Responsibilities:

• Greet and comfortably room patients to ensure a positive experience from check-in to discharge.
• Support front-office tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient calls, and managing patient records.
• Take vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
• Draw blood samples and perform venipuncture efficiently and safely.
• Administer vaccines and immunizations in accordance with established protocols.
• Assist healthcare providers with clinical procedures and provide general clinical support.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to infection control standards.
• Collaborate closely with clinical staff and providers to ensure smooth clinic operations.
• Support health education initiatives and outreach programs, emphasizing total population health management.

Required Skills:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant, including hands-on externship.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant strongly preferred.
• Experience with phlebotomy/venipuncture and electronic medical records (EMR) systems is required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record patient information.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages.
• Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with EMR platforms.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Adaptability to support both clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Occupational health experience, including working with bloodborne pathogen tests.
• Experience supporting wellness programs such as smoking cessation, weight management, diabetes management, and nutrition education.
• Multilingual abilities are a plus, supporting diverse patient populations.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional healthcare certifications are highly valued.
• Prior experience in a clinical or primary care setting is preferred.
• Experience working with a variety of patient age groups, including children 2+ years.

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to support clinic operations in Lake County, including obtaining consent forms and participating in blood glucose and fingerprinting procedures as needed.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and selected dates in August as scheduled.
• Certifications such as CPR/BLS are advantageous.
• Physically capable of standing for extended periods, performing blood draws, and assisting patients during examinations.
• Must be supportive of community health initiatives and committed to making a positive impact on employee and patient health.
