Freelance Copywriter

Our client, an in-house Advertising Agency, is seeking a Copywriter to join their Creative Services team. This execution-focused role is ideal for a writer with 4+ years of experience creating compelling brand, product, and campaign messaging across digital, retail, social, and email channels. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and storyteller who can translate complex product features into clear, engaging consumer-facing content while maintaining brand consistency across multiple touchpoints.

They are looking for a candidate who is collaborative, detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced agency environment. Candidates must be comfortable working under tight deadlines, receiving feedback, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Write clear, compelling, and on-brand copy for marketing and promotional initiatives across websites, email, retail, social media, and campaign assets.
• Translate approved brand stories, messaging frameworks, and product benefits into engaging content across multiple consumer touchpoints.
• Develop copy for digital, social, retail, and integrated marketing campaigns.
• Collaborate closely with designers and creative teams to ensure copy aligns with layouts, visuals, and overall creative direction.
• Revise and refine copy based on feedback from Senior Copywriters, Creative Directors, and key stakeholders.
• Research product features, competitive landscapes, and consumer benefits to support assigned product categories and campaigns.
• Maintain consistency with established brand voice, messaging frameworks, style guides, and creative standards.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and project requirements.
• Stay informed on product updates, platform changes, marketing trends, and consumer behaviors to strengthen creative execution.
• Utilize Google Workspace tools including Docs, Slides, and Sheets for collaboration and content development.
• Comfortably leverage AI-powered writing tools for brainstorming and ideation while maintaining ownership of original content creation.
• Provide general copywriting support across the Creative Services Group as needed.
• Collaborate closely with account, strategy, production, and creative teams to ensure alignment with project goals and client expectations.
• Maintain strong attention to detail through all phases of content development, proofreading, and quality control.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to contribute to team success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
• 4+ years of professional copywriting experience within an agency, in-house creative team, or marketing organization.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating experience across digital, social, email, retail, campaign, and brand copywriting.
• Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills.
• Ability to simplify technical or complex product information into compelling consumer-focused messaging.
• Strong understanding of brand voice, storytelling, messaging strategy, and content hierarchy.
• Experience collaborating with designers, marketers, and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to receive direction, incorporate feedback, and work within established brand guidelines.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines without compromising quality.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and familiarity with project management and collaboration tools.
• Experience working with consumer products, technology, retail, or lifestyle brands is a plus.
