Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer (3 to 6 years)

• Location: New York, NY (Midtown office, hybrid to be confirmed)
• Type: Permanent, full time
• Salary: $100,000 to $130,000 base

The role

Our client, an award winning NYC MEP consultancy, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC systems for commercial and residential buildings across New York City. You will work on real projects from day one, with a clear path to running your own jobs. Energy efficient design is at the core of what the firm does, so you will get deep exposure to high performance buildings.

What you will do

• Design HVAC systems through schematic design, design development and construction documents
• Run heating and cooling load calculations, equipment selections and duct and pipe sizing
• Produce and coordinate drawings in AutoCAD and Revit with architects and other MEP disciplines
• Write specifications and support NYC DOB filings
• Carry out field surveys of existing buildings and energy audits
• Support construction administration: submittal reviews, RFIs, site visits and punch lists
• Contribute to energy modeling and LEED, Passive House or Local Law 97 compliance work

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 3 to 6 years of HVAC design experience at an MEP consulting firm
• Solid knowledge of NYC Mechanical Code, ASHRAE standards and the NYC Energy Conservation Code
• Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD
• Experience with load calculation software such as Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP or similar
