Job Description

The Project Engineer will be responsible for:

• Manage day-to-day construction field activities to ensure that project milestone dates and overall schedule completion dates are met.
• Review blueprints, customer needs and contractor submissions in order to execute appropriate bids.
• Lead team with construction project planning and developing site logistics.
• Monitor job subcontractors to ensure quality workmanship and safety guidelines are met.
• Utilize good time management to ensure timely completion of projects.
• Keep construction daily and weekly work logs.
• Coordinate and supervise all construction activities.
• Work directly with job investors at times and maintain a professional and client facing attitude.
• Ensure proper signage is posted on the construction job site, and safety requirements are met.
• Review bids for work, as well as supervising the inspection of work.
• Schedule on-site inspections as needed along the jobs site.
• Maintain as strong a relationship as possible with local municipalities for potential future business.
• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with project coordination from preconstruction through closeout.
• Track and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and punch list items.
• Prepare meeting minutes and distribute project updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate material procurement and monitor lead times to support project schedules.
• Review and process shop drawings for compliance with project specifications.
• Support project budgeting, cost tracking, and forecasting efforts.
• Assist in maintaining project schedules and identifying potential schedule impacts.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve design and construction issues.
• Monitor project progress and communicate updates to project leadership.
• Perform site walks and quality control inspections to ensure work conforms to plans and specifications.
• Assist in managing project closeout documentation, warranties, and turnover packages.
• Support the implementation and enforcement of company safety standards and OSHA requirements.
• Track and organize project documentation using Procore and other construction management software.
• Participate in owner meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and internal project reviews.

The Successful Applicant

The Project Engineer will have:

• Proven ability to deliver construction projects on time and on budget.
• Must be able to work in a multiple-project construction environment.
• Ability to read and understand plans.
• Technical understanding of residential construction including building codes, trade sequencing, and best building practices.
• Capable of problem solving and experience with complex detailed projects.
• Work with subcontractors, suppliers, utilities, city inspectors, organize and direct activities concerned with their construction projects.
• Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, performance, and quality standards within boundaries of company policy and contract specifications.
• Monitor and control project through managing the construction schedule and directing subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project is completed on schedule and within budget.
• Investigate potentially serious situations, anticipate project delays, monitor job site safety, and implement corrective measures.
• Technical understanding of commercial construction including building codes, trade sequencing, and industry best practices.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with experience on complex and detail-oriented projects.
• Experience coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, utility companies, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
• Ability to establish project objectives, procedures, quality standards, and performance expectations.
• Experience monitoring project schedules and directing subcontractors to ensure successful project execution.
• Ability to identify project risks, investigate issues, anticipate delays, and implement corrective actions.
• Strong commitment to jobsite safety and quality control standards.
• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
• 1-4 years of experience in commercial construction, project engineering, or related construction management roles.
• Experience supporting ground-up commercial, multifamily, industrial, healthcare, education, or mixed-use projects preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, owners, architects, and engineers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar construction management software preferred.
• Understanding of construction scheduling concepts and CPM scheduling principles.
• Ability to manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to analyze drawings and identify potential conflicts or constructability concerns.
• Experience reviewing shop drawings and coordinating with design teams.
• Understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, and cost control principles.
• Ability to maintain organized project records and document control systems.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing project requirements.
• Strong sense of accountability, ownership, and follow-through.
