Job Description

This role is ideal for an experienced phlebotomist who enjoys working in a physician office environment, drawing blood, processing specimens, and supporting high-quality patient care. You will collect and receive biological specimens, ensure accurate data entry into the laboratory information system, and prepare samples for analytical testing or distribution to the appropriate laboratory areas. You will contribute to both pre- and post-analytical phases of testing, perform specified analytical tests as assigned, and follow established codes of conduct and compliance guidelines. Responsibilities

• Draw blood from patients in a physician office setting, ensuring safe, accurate, and compassionate collection.

• Collect and receive biological specimens into the department, verifying patient identity and specimen integrity.

• Accurately enter patient and specimen information into the company's computer system and laboratory information systems.

• Prepare specimens for analytical testing, including labeling, centrifugation, aliquoting, and proper storage as required.

• Distribute prepared specimens to the appropriate analytical or reference laboratory areas in a timely manner.

• Manage both pre-analytical tasks such as patient preparation, order verification, and specimen labeling.

• Handle post-analytical responsibilities, including organizing specimens for storage or disposal according to laboratory protocols.

• Perform specified analytical testing as assigned, following established procedures and quality standards.

• Follow all applicable codes of conduct, compliance requirements, and laboratory policies and procedures.

• Work closely with medical assistants and other clinical staff in the physician office to support efficient patient flow and high-quality patient care.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to infection control and safety guidelines.

• Operate phlebotomy and specimen processing equipment correctly and report any malfunctions or issues promptly.

• Provide clear, courteous communication to patients, explaining procedures and addressing questions to help reduce anxiety.

• Work independently and manage daily workload, prioritizing tasks to meet turnaround times and clinic schedules.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of prior phlebotomy experience in a clinical or laboratory setting (donor, plasma, and medical assistant experience does not qualify).

• Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture and blood collection techniques for a variety of patient populations.

• Ability to work comfortably and effectively in an independent role with minimal direct supervision.

• Experience with specimen collection, handling, and processing in a laboratory or clinical environment.

• Proficiency in accurate data entry and use of computer systems for patient and specimen information.

• High school diploma or GED.

• Strong attention to detail and adherence to established procedures and quality standards.

• Ability to follow codes of conduct and compliance guidelines in a healthcare environment.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, medical assistants, and clinical staff.

• Reliable time management skills to support clinic hours of operation and patient scheduling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a physician office or outpatient clinic setting.

• Experience in laboratory or specimen processing, including centrifugation and sample preparation.

• Comfort working closely with medical assistants and other clinical team members in a fast-paced environment.

• Interest in career growth through structured ladders, such as advancement to a higher-level phlebotomy role after meeting tenure and performance criteria.

• Eligibility for rehire if previously employed, subject to having left on good terms and more than 6 months prior, as confirmed through a rehire check.

Work Environment

This position is based in a physician office located at Phoenix, Arizona 85032. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., supporting clinic operations during regular business hours. You will work as the on-site phlebotomist, drawing the physician's patients and collaborating closely with medical assistants and other clinical staff. The environment involves frequent direct patient contact (mostly geriatric patients), use of standard phlebotomy supplies and equipment, and routine specimen processing tasks such as labeling and centrifugation. The role requires adherence to standard clinical dress and hygiene appropriate for a healthcare setting, including compliance with safety, infection control, and laboratory protocols. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.36/hr.
