General Information:

The University Health Center provides a comprehensive array of health care services and health education programs to JMU students. Included in our health care services are several medical clinics, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory, and other programs that provide services for more than 30,000 patient encounters a year. UHC practices evidence-based medicine in a confidential, welcoming environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as medical assistant for 2 acute care clinics.
• Perform check-in for medical appointments and prepare student for medical exams.
• Perform tests such as EKG and phlebotomy per qualifications.
• Performs point of care testing as needed.
• Assists with management of medical inventory.
• Assists with training of new student volunteers.

Qualifications:

• Required: Current certification as a Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician. Ability to work well with college students in a fast-paced environment. Excellent customer service skills.
• Additional Considerations: Phlebotomy experience. Previous work experience in a medical setting. Experience in an acute care medical setting.
