Associate, Before/Afterschool Enrichment Program - Part-Time Only (26/27)

General Definition of Work The ASEP Associate, under general supervision, performs complex work with minimal decision-making discretion related to the supervision and development of students enrolled in the After School Enrichment Program (ASEP). Position provides daily nurturing and enriching experiences for pre‑K and school‑age children, supporting academic progress while ensuring safety procedures and good behavior are maintained. Employee performs school‑based work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the ASEP Site Coordinator. Essential Functions Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures Actively engage in activities with children Determine effective use of facilities/equipment with assistance from other team members Prepare and implement aligned lessons for learning taking place indoors and outdoors Develop and follow procedures to safeguard the health and safety of children Maintain visual supervision of children at all times, including playground safety Coordinate the distribution of afternoon snacks Participate in staff training, regular staff meetings, and in special ASEP sessions Participate in documenting and carrying out consistent consequences for student disciplinary problems Establish open communication and good rapport with parents Ensure that classrooms are left in a clean, orderly condition for regular school Assist in securing equipment in proper storage areas Work extra hours in emergency situations Perform related work as assigned or required Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Hourly NC 06A/Part‑time, 10 months Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required Minimum of 2 years of verifiable childcare or early childhood experience in a licensed setting required NC Early Childcare Credential I or II preferred Associate degree or four‑year degree with emphasis on child development, early childhood education or a related field preferred Equivalent combination of education and experience Special Requirements Possession of Basic School‑Age Care (BSAC) certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire required NC‑DHHS Criminal Background Check required prior to start date Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings Physical Requirements/Working Conditions The work environment is performed regularly in a classroom environment and requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time Work requires the occasional exertion of up to ten pounds of force Work regularly requires exchange of accurate and detailed information through oral and written communication Constantly operates a computer and other office business equipment Ability to remain in stationary position for required meetings/work Ability to move to other work locations Visual acuity requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating standard office equipment, use of advanced technology Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g., business office, light traffic) Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions Must be adaptable to performing under mild to high levels of stress In compliance with Federal Law, Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Schools administers all education programs, employment activities and admissions without discrimination against any person on the basis of gender, race, color, religion, national origin, age or disability. #J-18808-Ljbffr Esd113
