HVAC Mechanic

Mechanical Maintenance TechnicianInstall, maintain, and repair campus heating and air conditioning systems, units, and related equipment. Perform skilled work in installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of food production equipment in compliance with all state, federal regulations and trade codes.Responsibilities include:Install, maintain, repair, and overhaul commercial and residential heating and air conditioning equipmentReplace compressors, fan motors, bearings, and shaftsInstall, maintain, and repair related equipment (i.e., air filtering systems, ice machines, refrigeration/freezer units, gas fryers, gas and electrical ovens, conveyor ovens, electric steam kettles, bakery equipment, commercial dishwashers, steam tables, warming tables)Perform preventive maintenance and make daily routine visual inspections of boiler rooms, heating and cooling systems, and equipment in assigned buildings and areas; check fluid levels and belt tightnessRespond to emergency calls and/or work orders related to air conditioning, heating, hot water equipment, and ventilation systemsMaintain chillers, cooling towers, boilers, air handlers and other commercial and residential heating and cooling equipment for campusTake water samples, and maintain proper chemical levels in boilers and cooling towersMaintain medium pressure steam boilers used for heating domestic water and preparation of foodRepair pneumatic controls and calibrate thermostatsTest and treat swimming poolsComply with State and Federal requirements for use, handling, and transport of all refrigerantsWeld and perform steel fabrication projectsMaintain inventory to eliminate down time in productionSelect materials and equipment at a competitive priceKeep daily log of time spent on each job and materials usedFollow all safety and other risk management policies in performance of workAttend safety meetingsMaintain, repair and clean tools, equipment, assigned service vehicle, boiler rooms, and work areasRequired Qualifications:Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalentOther Required Qualifications: Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification within timeline specified by departmentRequired Experience: Two (2) or more years of related work experienceProposed Salary: $20.71 - $25.88 per hour.
