Covenant Health includes nine hospitals and nearly 150 service locations, offering employees a comprehensive benefits package with tuition reimbursement, student loan assistance, certification bonuses, and leadership development programs.Position Summary: Provide patient care as assigned, under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) or a physician.ResponsibilitiesPractices in compliance with regulatory standards and adheres to hospital policy and procedures in the performance of duties.Performs ongoing patient observations per patient acuity.Recognizes, responds and reports changes in patient condition to RN.Recognizes need for interventions and implements appropriate processes to meet patients age specific needs while under the direction of an RNPerforms, prioritizes and documents patient care tasks with education and competency documented. Refer to Covenant Health Delegation Grid.Accurately follows the plan of care and pertinent medical orders in collaboration and under direction of RN.Facilitates timely physician evaluation and intervention.Participates in unit specific quality assurance activities as requested.Demonstrates principles of infection control; collaborates with infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and personnel.Assists in orienting new employees or students to unit routines.Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsMinimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.Minimum Experience: One (1) year of continuous experience as an EMT-P.Licensure Requirement: Must have and maintain paramedic licensure with the State of Tennessee. CPR required.
