Electronic Assembly Specialist - Cable Harness and Weapon Systems Phoenix, AZ $23.75 to $35.20 per hour About the Role We are seeking a skilled Electronic Assembly Specialist to manage the construction, testing, and troubleshooting of cable harnesses and electronic sub‑assemblies critical to the M134 minigun and associated weapon platforms. This hands‑on production position requires proficiency in soldering to J‑STD/IPC standards, interpreting electrical schematics, and operating Cirris testing equipment. Ideal applicants will possess a background in high‑reliability electronics, aerospace, or defense manufacturing and feel comfortable performing tasks in an ESD‑compliant environment involving firearms. Core Responsibilities Execute assembly, inspection, and functional testing for all gun control unit sub‑assemblies. Perform assembly, inspection, and functional testing on various electronic assemblies and cable harnesses. Apply soldering techniques for electrical components and connectors in alignment with J‑STD‑001 and IPC‑A‑620 quality standards. Develop and maintain test harnesses using Cirris machinery, create test programs, and establish Acceptance Test Procedures to ensure product reliability. Draft electrical schematics through manual methods or by utilizing CAD and schematic capture software. Create electrical support equipment and interface boxes to improve system‑level testing for aircraft and gun platforms. Maintain a secure workspace by strictly adhering to ESD handling protocols and safety measures. Follow established assembly procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent build quality. Verify product performance by conducting operational tests after the assembly process is complete. Collaborate with design engineers to provide technical input that enhances harness manufacturability. Keep accurate documentation of all training records and specialized process certifications. Required Qualifications Must be a U.S. Citizen to comply with ITAR regulations. Minimum age of 18 years. Must not be classified as a prohibited possessor under the National Firearms Act, Gun Control Act, or relevant Arizona statutes. Comfortable performing daily tasks in proximity to firearms. High school diploma or equivalent education. At least two years of professional experience within a manufacturing, electronics production, or warehouse setting. Demonstrated ability to solder electrical components and connectors. Proficiency in reading or drafting electrical schematics. Ability to successfully clear a background check in accordance with firearms industry and ITAR standards. Preferred Qualifications Current or previous certification in J‑STD‑001 or IPC‑A‑620. Experience utilizing Cirris or comparable harness testing systems. Background in manufacturing wire harnesses for defense or aerospace sectors. Previous experience operating within regulated environments such as AS9100 or ITAR. Proven ability to lead or contribute effectively within cross‑functional production teams. Strong written and verbal communication capabilities. Provided Training and Certifications ITAR compliance training. Comprehensive M134‑D minigun maintenance, operation, and familiarization. J‑STD‑001 soldering certification. IPC‑A‑620 aerospace cable assembly certification. Primary operations take place on an ESD‑controlled production floor. Field visits may occur, involving exposure to noise, dust, and varying outdoor weather conditions. Noise levels in the facility are generally moderate to moderately loud. Availability for overtime and weekend shifts is required. Periodic domestic and international travel is expected. Constant vigilance regarding firearm safety is mandatory. Physical Requirements Ability to remain standing or walking for long durations. Capacity to lift and transport up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis. Ability to safely handle, lift, and operate firearms as required by the role. Manual dexterity for fine soldering and intricate assembly tasks.
