Job Overview

Fire Maker Brewing Company is seeking a Full-Time Food Truck Chef to operate our food truck at our Atlanta taproom.

The menu is already established, and this position is responsible for the day-to-day execution and management of the entire food truck operation. This is primarily a one-person kitchen, so the ideal candidate must be organized, self-motivated, efficient, and comfortable handling everything from ordering and inventory to prep, cooking, service, cleaning, and closing.

This is not a traditional Monday–Friday chef position. The Food Truck Chef must be available to work during the food truck’s operating hours, including nights and weekends, when our taproom is open.

Responsibilities

• Independently operate the food truck during scheduled service hours.
• Prepare, cook, and serve all established menu items accurately and consistently.
• Complete all necessary prep before service and maintain appropriate prep levels throughout the week.
• Manage food and supply ordering while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
• Receive, organize, rotate, and properly store food deliveries.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and monitor product usage.
• Control food costs, waste, spoilage, and portion sizes.
• Maintain recipe and portion consistency for all menu items.
• Ensure the food truck is fully stocked and prepared for each service.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen throughout each shift.
• Complete all opening, closing, and cleaning responsibilities.
• Maintain compliance with local health department requirements and food safety standards.
• Identify equipment, maintenance, or supply needs and communicate them to management.
• Coordinate with brewery management regarding events, expected volume, menu availability, and operational needs.
• Provide friendly and professional service while representing Fire Maker Brewing Company.
• Take ownership of the overall organization, efficiency, cleanliness, and performance of the food truck.

Skills & Requirements

• Culinary Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of professional kitchen experience preferred.
• Independent Work: Must be comfortable operating a kitchen with limited day-to-day supervision.
• Organization: Strong ability to manage prep, inventory, ordering, service, and cleaning independently.
• Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and remain prepared for scheduled service.
• Food Safety: Strong knowledge of food handling, sanitation, storage, and kitchen safety standards.
• Consistency: Ability to follow established recipes, portions, and presentation standards.
• Cost Awareness: Understanding of inventory management, food waste, portion control, and food cost.
• Reliability: Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential due to the independent nature of the position.
• Adaptability: Comfortable working in a compact food truck environment and adjusting to changing business volumes and events.
• Communication: Able to communicate effectively with brewery management regarding inventory, operational needs, maintenance, and service.

Schedule Expectations

This is a full-time salaried position with a schedule based around the operating needs of the food truck and brewery.

The Food Truck Chef is expected to:

• Work when the food truck is open for service.
• Regularly work evenings and weekends.
• Adjust their schedule when necessary for brewery events, holidays, or increased business.
• Complete ordering, inventory, prep, and administrative responsibilities outside of service hours as necessary.

Because this position independently operates the food truck, consistent availability during scheduled service hours is an essential function of the role.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

• Stand and work on their feet for extended periods.
• Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive kitchen-related movements.
• Work around hot cooking equipment, fryers, grills, sharp utensils, and other commercial kitchen equipment.
• Work in a compact kitchen environment that may experience significant temperature changes.
