Start Date: ASAP
Salary Range: $430,000 - $530,000
We are collaborating with a prominent medical institution in Wisconsin to find a Medical Director for Transplant Hepatology. This leadership role will oversee a dynamic and expanding program in Milwaukee, WI. You will have the opportunity to influence quality improvement initiatives, mentor faculty members, and foster program growth alongside skilled transplant surgeons and an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team. The position offers 40% dedicated time for non-clinical activities, robust institutional backing, and access to a new Digestive Disease Center set to open in 2024, emphasizing our commitment to innovative, patient-focused care. With a rising number of liver transplants and a culture that prioritizes teamwork and ongoing enhancement, this role is designed to improve patient outcomes, advance educational efforts, and establish a premier service for individuals throughout Wisconsin and beyond.
Key Opportunities
- Serve as the Medical Director for the Transplant Hepatology program.
- Enjoy four half-days per week of protected, non-clinical time.
- Collaborate on quality, safety, and growth initiatives with Transplant Surgery and GI & Hepatology teams. Note that this role does not involve endoscopy call, which is managed by the GI team.
- Provide mentorship to a friendly group of four senior and one junior hepatology faculty, with plans for two additional junior hires.
- Receive support from five outpatient APPs and two inpatient APPs with strong hepatology expertise, along with daily engagement from GI & Hepatology fellows, including weekends.
- Current call schedule is 1:4 (week blocks), with a pathway to approximately 1:7 as new hires come on board.
- Benefit from a new Digestive Disease Center (2024) featuring a dedicated transplant ICU and multidisciplinary rounds to enhance patient care.
- Attractive compensation package: base salary in the mid $400,000s plus bonuses ($40,000–$60,000+), sign-on/relocation incentives, and annual CME funding. Total compensation potential is in the low $500,000s.
- No travel required for outreach; virtual outreach and regional expansion are key strategic focuses.
- Engage in teaching fellows, residents, and students within a high-volume academic network.
