OVERVIEW

Are you the go-to in your group chat for breaking down complicated news out of Wall Street, Silicon Valley, and Washington? Do you have a passion for staying current and the ability to maintain your sense of humor even when the news is rough? Then let’s talk.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, voice-y writer to write for Morning Brew’s flagship daily newsletter and occasionally craft content for our social media accounts on a weekend schedule.

Morning Brew’s newsletter, read by more than 4 million people seven days a week, offers a recap of the day’s news from the business world and beyond in just a five-minute read. Its secret sauce is not just expert curation of the news, but also the way that information is presented—in a friendly, funny, and inclusive voice. We deliver all the important updates our readers need to start their day without making them want to crawl back into bed.

Morning Brew has also become a major force on social channels such as Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. On these platforms, the Brew brings the same blend of style and information to engage readers when they’re not in their inbox.

The purpose of this role is to maintain the continuity and quality of the Brew’s newsletter and social accounts from the end of the week through the weekend.

Morning Brew is based in New York City and local candidates will be given preference, though remote applications will be considered.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Write for the flagship newsletter, writing at least one story per day, as well as a weekly market recap and week ahead preview

• Contribute story ideas and pitches for the newsletter

• Write up tweets or Instagram posts when major news breaks

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• A minimum of three years writing in a newsroom or media environment, ideally covering business, markets, or world events

• Excellent editorial judgment and attention to detail

• Comfort working under tight deadlines

• Ability to use humor in your writing (puns encouraged)

• Fluency with online publishing tools and collaborative workflows

• Familiarity with social platforms and the ability to distill news stories into X-length posts and find the perfect meme to match

COMPENSATION $75,000 - $80,000 *Final offers for this job will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided, commensurate with experience. Total offer package to include benefits highlighted under our perks section below.

BRIEF BREW HISTORY

Morning Brew Inc. was founded in 2015 by two entrepreneurial college students who noticed their peers were not consuming legacy media resources about business and finance news, but had a high desire to learn about those topics. What started as a small on-campus email has since evolved into a multi-channel media company that operates 20+ unique content franchises. All while maintaining our witty, honest and engaging tone that millions of loyal MBI audience members rely upon daily to better navigate the world.

In 2020 a majority stake in MBI was acquired by Axel Springer SE and in February 2025 that position was increased to full ownership of the business.
