Data Center Controls Engineer - Covington

Salary: $111,300 - 186,100 per year Requirements:

• Background in construction management, mechanical or electrical engineering, or technology, with the ability to take on complex controls platforms and align building automation with business objectives.
• Valid drivers license and willingness to travel domestically and internationally at least 25% of the time.
• At least 4 years of experience managing general contractors and vendors in construction and project execution, including proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI/submittal tracking.
• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent engineering science, plus at least 5 years of relevant controls experience; alternatively, at least 10 years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
• At least 5 years of industrial controls experience in a critical environment, such as a data center, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, oil and gas, petrochemical, laboratory, power, or water setting.
• Preferred: Masters degree in Engineering, such as Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Controls/Automation.
• Preferred: Experience designing, configuring, programming, installing, troubleshooting, or servicing HVAC controls or electrical SCADA systems, including application-specific controllers, software, and networks.
• Preferred: Experience with industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, BACnet, or MODBUS.
• Preferred: Understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Preferred: Ability to manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and requirements and navigate challenging situations.
• Preferred: Experience designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure.

• Manage the scope of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) for AWS data center construction.
• Ensure data center controls are deployed in accordance with the scope of work and specifications.
• Review mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings and provide feedback.
• Develop controls bills of material.
• Manage stakeholder deliverables and requirements, addressing challenging situations and tight project timelines.
• Manage construction and service contract finances.
• Serve as a project sponsor or lead and manage vendors.
• Develop scopes of work for site improvement projects.
• Provide technical assistance to internal customers throughout the data center lifecycle.
• Conduct root cause analysis of controls issues at AWS data centers.
• Schedule and supervise quarterly BMS and EPMS maintenance.
• Review control sequences of operation and provide design feedback.
• Participate in a global on-call schedule.
• Build technical expertise across different automation platforms.
• Develop building automation controls drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Size control valves and damper actuators and select control devices.
• Develop and modify control logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
