• Shift / Schedule: Day shift, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (5x8 Hours); hours may vary between 8:00 AM–4:00 PM and 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Travel Requirements: Must be willing to travel to all locations within a 38-mile radius. Advanced notice will be given for assignment location each day.

Job Summary

This is an ASAP start (8/17 or before) contract Registered Nurse role within a Behavioral Health setting, requiring flexibility in scheduling and the ability to float to all CHL locations within a 38-mile radius. Preference will be given to candidates with no requested time off (RTO). Flexibility is key with this position, as the hours could change — they currently vary between 8:00 AM–4:00 PM and 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. Advanced notice will be given for assignment location each day.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Psychiatry in refilling medication for CHL clients by answering the Medication Refill Line and communicating and educating clients about medications.
• Provide prior approvals for medication prescriptions as needed by insurance companies.
• Complete nursing assessments of clients screening for but not limited to such diseases as diabetes, hypertension, and tuberculosis.
• Identify medical, emotional, and social problems requiring further assessment and treatment.
• Provide appropriate health care and coordinate referrals as needed.
• Facilitate referrals to primary care provider or establish contact with existing primary care provider.
• Contribute to the development of treatment plan particularly as related to medical concerns; establish realistic goals, document clear and concise plans of care, regularly update plans of care based on change in health status; plan of care is made with client, family, and team members.
• Work with individual clients on wellness initiatives such as smoking cessation, improved nutrition, increased physical activity, and stress management, and follow through with all medical care recommendations.
• Facilitate educational groups regarding nutrition, physical activity, smoking cessation, stress management, and medical needs for clients; provide educational support to increase knowledge of clients and mental health providers regarding medical conditions; plan and facilitate wellness activities.
• Maintain regular contact among consumer, primary care, and primary and psychiatric providers, using existing family and social supports as well.
• Record all assessments, treatment plans, and follow-up data in the electronic medical record system daily.
• Nursing assessments may be completed in the community, including in schools and homes.

Education Requirements

• Permanent Massachusetts (MA) RN license required
• BLS certification required

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience

Required Skills

• Ability to travel to all CHL locations within a 38-mile radius
• Willingness to float to all CHL locations as required
• Flexibility with scheduling, including willingness to work as needed

• 40 hours per week guaranteed
• Flexibility required — hours may vary between 8:00 AM–4:00 PM and 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Must be willing to work as needed, including weekends
• Flu vaccination: Required — medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed
• COVID-19 vaccination: Not required
• Nursing assessments may be conducted in community settings, including schools and homes
