Transportation Crew Leader

Maine Department of Transportation Salary: $22.66 – $31.40 per hour Office/Bureau: Maintenance and Operations (Region 5 – Northern Maine) Location: Houlton, ME Opening Date: June 30, 2026 Closing Date: July 15, 2026 Responsibilities This supervisory position supports bridge, highway, traffic, maintenance, and construction projects. The incumbent directs the work of crews engaged in highway maintenance and construction work and may operate heavy motorized equipment. Work is performed under limited supervision. Qualifications Two‑year combination of experience or education in highway/bridge construction, fleet equipment repair, or transportation‑related maintenance, including at least one year as a lead worker. High school diploma or equivalent and possession of the required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. Required to work at a higher class as necessary and in accordance with required licenses and/or certifications. Licensing and Certification Valid Class A motor vehicle license issued by the State of Maine. Completion of the 30‑hour OSHA Safety course in construction (20 CFR Part 1926). Under federal law, eligible applicants must be U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, or H‑2A, H‑2B, or E‑2 visa holders to obtain a CD‑L.
