About Your Role

The Project Engineer provides engineering, construction administration, coordination, and project management support for the Ticket Counter Program and associated terminal improvements at Tampa International Airport. The position will support HCAA project management in coordinating design and construction activities involving airline ticket counters, passenger processing areas, baggage interfaces, electrical and technology systems, architectural improvements, signage, utilities, and other terminal systems. The Project Engineer will work closely with HCAA, airlines, designers, contractors, consultants, airport operations, IT, security, and other stakeholders to facilitate successful project delivery while minimizing disruption to ongoing passenger and airline operations.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical field required.

Required Certifications

• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required HCAA/TPA security credentials and airport identification badge.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.

What You'll Need to Get the Job Done

• Minimum five (5) years of experience supporting construction, engineering, project management, or construction administration.
• Experience with commercial, institutional, aviation, transportation, or other complex occupied-facility construction.
• Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, change documentation, schedules, and contractor progress.
• Experience coordinating among designers, contractors, consultants, owners, and project stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of construction documentation and project controls.
• Ability to work on-site at Tampa International Airport.

What Will Make You Stand Out

• Previous experience supporting airport terminal construction or renovation projects.
• Experience with airline ticket counter, passenger processing, baggage, terminal, or airline tenant improvement projects.
• Experience working within an active airport terminal while maintaining passenger and airline operations.
• Familiarity with airline operational requirements and common-use passenger processing environments.
• Experience coordinating architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, low-voltage, IT, security, signage, and baggage interfaces.
• Previous experience with HCAA or another major commercial airport.
• Experience supporting phased construction and temporary passenger-processing arrangements.
• Engineer Intern (EI/EIT), Professional Engineer (PE) - State of Florida, Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or LEED Accredited Professional certification.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing in occupied facilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and construction/project management software.
• Familiarity with Primavera P6 scheduling.

What You'll Do

• Provide engineering and construction administration support to HCAA project management.
• Coordinate design and construction activities associated with ticket counters and terminal improvements.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change requests, and other technical documentation.
• Maintain and track RFIs, submittals, change items, design issues, action items, and project decisions.
• Coordinate with airlines and other stakeholders regarding operational requirements and construction impacts.
• Assist with development and review of construction phasing and temporary operational plans.
• Coordinate interfaces among ticket counters, baggage systems, electrical systems, IT, communications, security, signage, and architectural components.
• Monitor construction progress and identify potential schedule, quality, cost, and coordination issues.
• Participate in project progress, design, construction, stakeholder, and coordination meetings.
• Perform field observations and document project conditions and construction progress.
• Assist with review of contractor payment applications and supporting documentation.
• Support change management and evaluation of potential cost and schedule impacts.
• Coordinate with airport operations to minimize impacts to passengers, airlines, tenants, and terminal operations.
• Support testing, commissioning, punch-list, activation, turnover, and project closeout activities.
• Prepare project correspondence, meeting documentation, reports, and status updates.

Salary:

• $55.00 per hour

Compensation is based on qualifications, experience, skills, certifications, and other job-related factors.

A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management's discretion.
