REPORTS TO Child Care Program Manager FLSA STATUS Hourly SUPERVISES Yes JOB FAMILY Child Care Services FTE 1.0 WORK CALENDAR 248 GRADE O APPROVED February 27, 2019 REVISED 2019 Job Summary Provide assistance to the Child Care Program Manager with the District’s before/after School programs, as assigned. Provide a safe, supervised and secure environment for school‑age children enrolled in before/after school programs; offer activities such as core curriculum, homework support and enrichment opportunities. Lead and supervise program staff and volunteers. Essential Duties Assist in supervision of the district’s before/after school programs, ensuring smooth and effective operations and adherence to health, safety and licensing rules and regulations, while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards. Develop and assist with activity planning; secure substitutes for staff absences within programs. Supervise, discipline, and evaluate staff work performance and skills. Assist with collaboration, delegation, and shared leadership. Assist with the management of parent complaints concerning program and staff issues. Participate in staff‑development and professional development activities. Assist with ordering equipment and supplies. Assist in processing participant applications and establishing student files. Collect, process, and report tuition revenues. Provide adequate supervision both inside and outside the facilities. Practice appropriate discipline techniques with children. Maintain a professional manner, including confidentiality and appropriate communication with staff, students, and the community. Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Education And Experience Six months of child care experience AND: A high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma; OR At least 12 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including at least six credit hours in early childhood, child development, or a closely related field; OR Associate or bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child development, or a closely related field; OR National Administrator Credential (N.A.C.), Child Development Association (C.D.A.), or Child Care Professional (C.C.P.) credential. Licensing/Certifications Valid CPR First Aid certification. Valid Food Handler Card. Valid Level I Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC). Provide negative tuberculosis skin test results. Knowledge Of Supervisory principles, practices and techniques. Practices and methods of coaching and leading the work of others. Principles and practices of conflict resolution. Basic budget administration. Business math concepts. Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work. Filing and record‑keeping principles. Uses and properties of supplies and equipment. Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations (based on assignment). Customer service principles. Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment. Modern office technology. Skill In Supervising and evaluating staff performance. Training and coaching staff. Providing direction to others to meet standards. Business math computations. Exercising confidentiality. Composing and maintaining basic original documents, including reports, presentations, and correspondence. Performing basic original research, compiling and assembling data. Organizing tasks, meeting deadlines and prioritizing competing demands. Overseeing and organizing and maintaining records and files. Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards (based on assignment). Providing customer service. Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications. Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others in order to convey information and receive work direction. Ada And Other Requirements Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light work. Working Conditions Work is routinely performed in an indoor school environment; however, outdoor work is sometimes required.
