Director of PaymentsAbout the Role

The Director of Payments will own the growth, performance, and ongoing evolution of Oryx’s payments capabilities, helping dental practices realize the full value of an integrated payments experience.

This role sits at the intersection of business growth, customer experience, product innovation, and payment operations. The ideal candidate understands the payments ecosystem, is passionate about delivering meaningful customer value, and can translate market needs into solutions that simplify financial workflows and improve operational efficiency.

You will work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, and external payments partners to strengthen Oryx’s payments offering, accelerate adoption, and deliver a seamless, reliable payments experience for customers.

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for someone who combines payments industry expertise with strong commercial instincts, operational discipline, and a customer-first mindset.

• Own the overall growth and performance of Oryx’s payments business, with accountability for adoption, customer engagement, transaction volume, and revenue.

• Develop and execute initiatives that increase awareness, adoption, and utilization of integrated payments across the Oryx customer base.

• Identify opportunities to help dental practices simplify payment collection, reduce administrative work, and improve financial efficiency.

• Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Onboarding to communicate the value of integrated payments and support a seamless customer experience.

• Monitor customer feedback, market trends, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for continued growth and improvement.

• Serve as the business leader and subject matter expert for payments-related product initiatives.

• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to identify, prioritize, and deliver new payment features and capabilities.

• Translate customer needs, industry trends, and operational challenges into actionable product requirements.

• Help shape an intuitive, modern payments experience that integrates naturally into dental practice workflows.

• Support product launches, feature adoption, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Stay informed of emerging payment technologies and evolving customer expectations to ensure Oryx’s payments capabilities remain competitive and relevant.

• Manage key relationships with payment processors, technology providers, hardware suppliers, and other strategic partners.

• Ensure reliable and efficient payment processing, settlement, funding, and deposit experiences for customers.

• Partner with external providers and internal teams to proactively identify and resolve operational issues affecting payment performance.

• Monitor payment operations and partner service levels to drive reliability, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners on payment security, compliance, and risk management.

• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce friction, and strengthen the end-to-end payments experience.

• Act as the primary business owner and internal advocate for Oryx’s payments business.

• Align Sales, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Operations around shared payments objectives.

• Establish and monitor meaningful KPIs related to business performance, adoption, customer experience, and operational effectiveness.

• Develop scalable processes and enablement resources that support continued business growth.

• Provide leadership with clear visibility into business performance, opportunities, and priorities.

• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

• 7+ years of experience in payments, fintech, embedded payments, merchant services, or related financial technology sectors.

• Demonstrated success growing a payments business, product, or portfolio.

• Strong understanding of payment processing, merchant acquiring, settlement, funding, and payment operations.

• Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to develop or enhance technology-enabled payment solutions.

• Proven ability to manage payment processing partners, vendors, and strategic relationships.

• Strong commercial and analytical skills, with experience managing revenue, adoption, and operational performance metrics.

• Ability to translate complex payments concepts into clear business value for customers and internal stakeholders.

• Excellent communication, relationship management, and cross-functional leadership skills.

• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented SaaS environment.

• Experience with embedded or integrated payments within a vertical SaaS platform.

• Familiarity with dental, healthcare, or practice management technology.

• Experience with card-present, card-not-present, digital payments, and modern payment acceptance solutions.

• Understanding of payment-related security, compliance, fraud prevention, and risk management.

• Experience launching new payment capabilities or scaling payments adoption within an established software customer base.
