Team Information Hillcrest Hospital Claremore is a 49‑bed acute care medical center offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including maternity and women’s services, ICU and cardiology services in the advanced cardiac catheterization lab. Responsibilities Perform specimen collection techniques or instructions that include venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction, and specimen culture collection instruction. Promote professionalism and interact with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment. Ensure specimens are obtained in accordance with laboratory guidelines. Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care provider. Support organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Attain required competency and demonstrate the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols. Able to prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity. Follow proper protocols for specimen packaging and specimen transport. Responsible for specimen accessioning as assigned. Demonstrate proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, perform proper prompt specimen transport. Perform proper drug screen collection and processing as assigned. Answer laboratory department phone calls. Recognize emergent conditions and react appropriately. Provide phlebotomy services in a professional and patient‑centered manner. Engage in self‑evaluation of practice and take action to improve knowledge and skills. Retain accountability for quality of care given to the patient. Job Requirements High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred Job Requirements Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience. Certification from a nationally recognized agency. Accepted agencies and certifications include, but are not limited to: National Healthcareer Association – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (NHA). American Society for Clinical Pathology – Phlebotomy Technician: PBT (ASCP). American Medical Technologists – Registered Phlebotomy Technician: RPT (AMT). National Center for Competency Testing – National Certified Phlebotomy Technician: NCPT (NCCT). American Certification Agency – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (ACA).
