Assistant Chief Flight Instructor

Assistant Chief Instructor position in the Commercial Aviation Department at Delta State University. Reports directly to the Chief Instructor. Responsible for development, evaluation of flight training techniques, ensuring compliance with DSU training syllabi and FAR 141.85. Duties include conducting stage checks, end‑of‑course tests, flight instructor proficiency checks, maintaining day‑to‑day operations, managing student progress, and ensuring part‑time instructors are qualified and proficient. Responsibilities Assist in development and evaluation of flight training techniques per DSU syllabi Report directly to the Chief Instructor and perform delegated duties Be available at the pilot school or by telephone/radio/electronic means during training time (FAR 141.85) Delegate authority for stage checks, end‑of‑course tests, and instructor proficiency checks Ensure day‑to‑day operations are maintained and students progress in training Assist in ensuring part‑time instructors qualify and are proficient for courses they will instruct Minimum Qualifications FAA Certified Flight Instructor Instrument FAA Certified Flight Instructor Multi‑Engine Meet FAA Part 141 Assistant Chief requirements Preferred Qualifications ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) rating Part 121 experience Salary & Benefits Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
