RN - Med/Surg Charge Nurse (Night Shift)

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to serve as a Charge Nurse on the Medical-Surgical unit during night shifts. This role requires strong clinical judgment to perform thorough assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans. The ideal candidate will adapt plans to meet evolving clinical outcomes effectively.

You will actively evaluate nursing practices and quality indicators, supporting evidence-based improvements through research and experiential learning. Participation in quality and performance improvement initiatives is essential.

Create a compassionate and safe environment for patients, families, and staff. Build therapeutic relationships while managing emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing.

Incorporate patients' and families' unique cultural, spiritual, and socioeconomic backgrounds into personalized care plans.

Protect patient confidentiality, autonomy, and dignity, advocating for their rights and addressing ethical concerns with sensitivity.

Educate patients, families, and healthcare team members to empower informed health decisions, including health promotion and disease prevention.

Work closely with interdisciplinary teams and community resources to develop integrated care plans, delegating tasks appropriately and ensuring timely follow-up.

Utilize available resources efficiently, considering safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care delivery.

Engage in shared governance, staffing processes, and ongoing professional development through education, networking, and certification. Support the growth of peers through mentoring and precepting.

Conduct comprehensive assessments covering physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, and cultural needs. Review patient history, diagnostics, and collaborate with the healthcare team to formulate and revise realistic, measurable care and discharge plans.

Deliver direct patient care, coordinate and supervise healthcare team activities, and ensure continuity of care through accurate communication. Evaluate patient responses and progress, adjusting care plans as necessary.

Maintain clear, timely, and accurate records reflecting assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in compliance with policies and regulatory standards.

Participate in research activities, shared leadership, and the education and orientation of staff, patients, and visitors. Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational values and mission.

Must hold a current RN license and have experience in medical-surgical nursing, preferably with charge nurse responsibilities. Prior leadership and quality improvement involvement are highly valued.
