Role Overview: Total Value Analysis of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Operations at Veranova's West Deptford, New Jersey Facility Background Veranova's West Deptford, New Jersey campus is one of the company's largest manufacturing sites, supporting commercial-scale API production through a diverse portfolio of manufacturing assets, specialized processing equipment, and highly regulated operations. The facility operates under current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) requirements and supports pharmaceutical customers throughout the product lifecycle. As pharmaceutical manufacturing becomes increasingly competitive, organizations must continuously evaluate how operational decisions create value beyond traditional cost reduction. Engineering leaders are expected to balance productivity, quality, regulatory compliance, asset utilization, customer service, workforce effectiveness, sustainability, and financial performance when making strategic investments. This capstone project challenges associates to evaluate manufacturing operations through a comprehensive Total Value Analysis (TVA) framework that quantifies the operational and financial value generated across the facility while identifying opportunities to improve overall business performance. Project Objective Develop a comprehensive Total Value Analysis of Veranova's West Deptford manufacturing operations that identifies, quantifies, and prioritizes opportunities to increase enterprise value through operational excellence. Associates will evaluate manufacturing performance using engineering, financial, and operational metrics to determine how improvements in manufacturing systems contribute to customer value, regulatory compliance, and long-term business competitiveness. Qualifications Engineering degree or relevant background Willing to work 12-hour shifts (follow production 2-2-3 shifts) including night shift 5:30PM-6:00AM 3-month time frame approximately July/Aug-September/Oct (start date can be flexible in July) Project Scope The analysis should examine the manufacturing operation from multiple engineering perspectives, including: Manufacturing process performance Capacity and asset utilization Facility layout and material flow Inventory management Maintenance strategy Workforce productivity Safety and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) performance Energy and resource utilization Associates should evaluate both quantitative and qualitative factors that contribute to enterprise value. Methodology Associates should employ recognized Industrial Engineering methodologies, including: Value Stream Mapping Process Flow Analysis Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Capacity Analysis Bottleneck Identification Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Risk Assessment Total Value Analysis (TVA) Expected Deliverables Each project team will produce: Executive Summary Facility Overview Current-State Operational Assessment Manufacturing Process Maps Value Stream Map Total Value Analysis Framework KPI Dashboard Identification of Value Drivers Improvement Opportunity Portfolio Financial Impact Assessment Implementation Roadmap Risk Assessment Final Technical Report Executive Presentation Success Criteria Recommendations should demonstrate measurable improvements in one or more of the following performance areas: Manufacturing throughput Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Production cycle time Schedule adherence Capacity utilization Right-first-time production Customer service performance Cost per batch Waste reduction Return on investment (ROI) Total enterprise value Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this project, associates will demonstrate the ability to: Analyze complex manufacturing systems using Industrial Engineering principles. Integrate operational, financial, and strategic data into engineering decision-making. Apply quantitative analytical methods to evaluate manufacturing performance. Develop data-driven recommendations that maximize organizational value. Communicate engineering findings effectively to both technical and executive audiences. Balance operational excellence with regulatory compliance and business strategy. The final deliverable should provide executive leadership with a prioritized portfolio of improvement initiatives that maximize value creation while supporting Veranova's mission of delivering safe, high-quality pharmaceutical ingredients through world-class manufacturing operations. Salary Range: The salary range for this role is $22/hr. This range represents a good-faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this position at the time of posting.
