Night Shift Emergency Room Patient Care TechnicianJoin our team as a night shift, full-time, Emergency Room (ER) Patient Care Technician (PCT) in Montclair, NJ.Thrive in a People-First Environment and Make Healthcare BetterThrive: We empower our team with career growth opportunities, tuition assistance, and resources that support your wellness, education, and financial well-being.People-First: We prioritize your well-being with paid time off, comprehensive health benefits, and a supportive, inclusive culture where you are valued and cared for.Make Healthcare Better: We use advanced technology to support our team and enhance patient care.Learn more about the benefits offered for this job.Get to Know Your Team:Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is an 820,000-square-foot facility that offers the latest medical programs, cutting-edge technology, and patient-focused care that includes 365 beds, 1,200+ employees, and a 27-bed Emergency Room/Fast Track Unit.Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:ResponsibilitiesThe Patient Care Tech provides direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse to all assigned patients and maintains a safe patient area.Assists in the triaging of patients, including admission, transfer, and discharge.Reports all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences of an urgent nature as they develop.Takes vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and collects specimens.Responds to emergencies.Assists with patient transport and transfer.Collects, reports, and documents clinical data.Adheres to safety and risk management standards.Assists with clerical and communication tasks to support patient care.Registers patients for inpatient, outpatient, or emergency room services and obtains accurate demographic and insurance information.Copies insurance cards as required.Prepares ID bracelets and distributes with admission forms.Provides patients with information required by federal mandates, i.e., Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Advance Care Directives.Obtains appropriate signatures and copies and/or scans all identification and healthcare coverage presented. Documents reasons if this information is not attainable.QualificationsJob Requirements:High school diploma or GED equivalent.BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.Preferred Job Requirements:1+ years' experience as an Emergency Department Technician.Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) or Emergency Medical Tech - Paramedic (EMT-P) certification.Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
