Telecommunications Technician

Location: EUSTIS, FL, US 32726, LEESBURG, FL, US 34748 Company: Lumen Technologies The Role The Customer Service Technician will perform installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of high‑speed internet, video and voice networks including associated wiring and equipment. Additionally, they will maintain and repair outside plant facilities within assigned geographic service areas. Location and Schedule This full‑time position is located in the Eustis and Leesburg, FL area. The typical schedule is Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑4:30 pm, with possible nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call duties. The Main Responsibilities Install, maintain, and troubleshoot high‑speed internet, video, and voice networks, including associated wiring and equipment. Maintain and repair outside plant facilities. Climb poles, use a shovel and pick to dig up and bury cable; work in manholes or controlled environmental vaults (CEV); locate buried telephone cables. Observe all safety rules and regulations. Assist other technical personnel when requested. Convey a positive and professional appearance and demeanor when communicating the company’s products and services to customers. Actively support sales and marketing related activities. Direct customer‑facing work and sales referrals. Be accountable and dependable (on time and on load when scheduled; on call as needed). Work as a team, using technical expertise to complete work efficiently and achieve work‑group key service measures. Practice active listening, taking input from customers, APS, and co‑workers to problem‑solve and improve skills. Ask relevant questions to ensure problems are resolved quickly or to clarify information or directions. Engage in active learning, seeking new information and improving skills and knowledge. Assume all other duties as assigned. What We Look For in a Candidate High school diploma or higher (or equivalent). Ability to distinguish colors on facilities. Ability to handle 28‑ft extension ladders (up to 75 lb) and manhole covers (up to 150 lb). Ability to successfully complete service‑tech boot camp training, POTS/DSL installation/repair, cable splicing/maintenance, basic transmissions, air pressure, and HSI installations. Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces, utility holes). Ability to work aloft (e.g., ladder). Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and at various hours of the day/night. Ability to work varying shifts and hours including possible mandatory overtime, weekends, and holidays. Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience as a customer‑facing telecom operations technician. Basic electricity training/certification or documented equivalent work experience. ADSL installation/repair experience (self/full installs). A+/Net+ certification. Strong soft skills. Compensation Pay ranges: Minimum hourly rate $15.61, maximum hourly rate $34.94.
