Job Description

The LVN role involves reviewing medical records and clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The position assists with utilization review activities, including the assessment of authorizations, referrals, and medical necessity documentation. The role involves coordinating communication among physicians, nursing staff, case managers, ancillary departments, and external providers. Additionally, the role requires monitoring and tracking patient care plans, discharge planning activities, and follow-up requirements. Supporting quality improvement initiatives through data collection, documentation review, and reporting is a key aspect of this role. Maintaining accurate records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system and preparing correspondence, reports, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders is also essential.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance.

• Assist with utilization review activities, including reviewing authorizations and medical necessity documentation.

• Coordinate communication between physicians, nursing staff, case managers, ancillary departments, and external providers.

• Monitor and track patient care plans, discharge planning activities, and follow-up requirements.

Essential Skills

• Medical management

• Utilization management

• Basic Life Support Certification

• Experience with Epic

• CPR

• Knowledge of medical terminology

• Experience with electronic health records

• Patient care

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Licensed Vocational Nurse License preferred

• Experience in phlebotomy and blood draw

• Experience in discharge planning and triage

• Experience in acute care and pediatric care

• Prior authorization experience

• Bilingual abilities

This position is based in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role requires adaptability and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Oxnard, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $37.00/hr.
