To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.In this role you will work as a Fault Management Systems Engineer, developing system-level fault protection behaviors and leading subsystem teams in the integration of lower-level fault protection. You will be a key technical voice at the interface of subsystems, safety, and operations teams to ensure the safety and reliability of crewed and uncrewed lunar missions.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Designing autonomous Fault Detection Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) mechanisms, including fault protection state machines, monitors, and responsesDecomposing failure modes, effects, and criticality analyses (FMECA), fault tree analyses (FTA), and hazard analyses into the required system autonomyDefining and modeling vehicle states, modes, conditions, activities, and functionsLeading cross-functional working groups with subsystem engineers to develop and integrate the required fault protection mechanismsSupporting implementation of autonomous behaviors in flight softwareSupporting the broader lunar program in the development of system of system models and timelinesSupporting systems safety work, as requiredMinimum Qualifications:B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or related technical subject areaHighly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systemsStrong ability and desire to analyze complex systems and deliver solutions to results-oriented problemsExcellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environmentPreferred Qualifications:Successful candidates typically have 5+ years of relevant experienceM.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, Software, Electrical, or related technical subject areaDemonstrated experience developing fault protection, FDIR, or autonomous response behaviors for spacecraft, launch vehicles, aircraft, or comparable complex systemsTechnical knowledge in multiple subsystems, particularly guidance navigation & control, and flight softwareExperience with full spacecraft design life cycleExperience working on large complex programs with multiple partnersExperience with requirements definition and management, preferably using JamaExperience with software tools such as Git, Jama, Cameo, Confluence, and JIRABase Pay Range for:WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon't meet all desired requirements?
