PRN Preop/PACU Registered Nurse

Rocky Hill Surgery Center is seeking an experienced PRN Preop/PACU Registered Nurse to join our great team of professionals. Benefits Free Parking Employee Assistance Program Our busy ophthalmology surgery center provides outpatient surgical procedures to Rocky Hill, CT and the surrounding communities. We are looking for a Preop/PACU Registered Nurse who is a team player, detail oriented, and committed to delivering excellent care to our patients. Shift: Day Shift Position Description The Preop/PACU Registered nurse position is responsible for direct nursing care of patients in the pre-operative, post anesthesia care unit. The Preop/PACU Registered Nurse is knowledgeable in all areas of perioperative nursing, post anesthesia recovery, pain, and patient teaching. Requirements PACU/Critical Care experience preferred. Ophthalmology experience a plus Knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties of a Pre-op/PACU nurse. BLS and ACLS certifications A knowledge of aseptic technique, anesthetic agents and complications, and the ability to handle emergency situations in a professional manner. Must be able to communicate effectively and have an ability to work compatibly with all physicians and staff. Must be able to speak, read and write English. Possess strong organizational skills, and a clear understanding of the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an ambulatory surgery center. Special Working Conditions and Physical Demands Standing or walking most of the day. Sufficient mobility and strength to move throughout department and lift heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to blood, sharp objects, and infectious diseases May be required to wear personal protection equipment for lengthy periods of time.
