Mortgage Loan Assistant

Summary We are FIRST STATE BANK , located in Middlebury, Indiana, seeking a Mortgage Lending Assistant. This role works with Mortgage Loan Originators, greets customers, and prepares and manages loan documentation for residential mortgage applications. Responsibilities Greet customers and provide service by answering questions about existing loans and guiding them to the appropriate loan officer. Answer phone calls promptly and courteously, directing calls to the correct department. Contact customers to schedule appointments and collect necessary documents. Obtain and order due diligence items such as credit reports, appraisal reports, flood determinations, and title commitments. Coordinate documentation requests with Mortgage Processing and Underwriting, ensuring post‑closing paperwork is returned. Monitor the pipeline report to ensure files are processed quickly. Assist with marketing efforts for loan originators to grow business. Perform general administrative duties to support department operations. Act as an intermediary between loan originators and mortgage operations to obtain approvals and documentation. Complete all required training and any additional duties assigned. May act as a Notary Public if requested. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. High attention to detail. Ability to remain composed under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional internal and external customer service skills. Team‑oriented and collaborative.
