As a School Social Worker , you'll play a pivotal role in helping students reach their full potential academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. Working within a dedicated Special Education program, you'll provide individualized and group-based support, help strengthen connections between home and school, and collaborate closely with educators, families, behavioral professionals, community partners, and district representatives.

‖ Responsibilities Include:

• Providing individual and group counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, or family-related challenges impacting educational success, including crisis intervention and family consultation when appropriate.

• Building trusting relationships with students and creating a supportive environment where students feel safe, understood, and empowered to succeed.

• Conducting comprehensive interviews and assessments with students, families, educators, and other professionals to better understand students' social, emotional, behavioral, and environmental needs.

• Maintaining consistent communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, emerging concerns, and home or community factors that may affect school performance.

• Developing and updating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and related student-support documentation in accordance with company guidelines and applicable school, state, and federal requirements.

• Participating actively in IEP team meetings and contributing social-emotional, behavioral, and family-system expertise to collaborative student planning.

• Collaborating with teachers, behavioral professionals, therapists, school leaders, district representatives, families, and community providers to develop integrated solutions supporting student success.

• Coordinating case-management activities, including parent meetings, community resources, therapeutic referrals, emergency transportation needs, and other individualized student supports.

• Partnering with outside professionals and agencies, including wraparound providers, probation officers, court representatives, and community-based organizations when appropriate.

• Supporting implementation of positive social-emotional and behavioral strategies through classroom observations, consultation, coaching, and collaboration with instructional staff.

• Providing guidance and training to educators related to student programming, behavioral supports, data collection, transition planning, and implementation of IEP goals.

• Analyzing student progress and behavioral data to identify needs, inform interventions, and provide targeted support to staff.

• Conducting crisis assessments and coordinating timely interventions with appropriate internal and external resources to protect student safety and wellbeing.

• Maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of services, student progress, communications, and interventions.

• Staying current on evidence-based practices, emerging trends, and effective approaches within school social work, Special Education, behavioral health, and student support.

• Contributing to the development of a positive, collaborative, student-centered culture as a founding member of the ChanceLight Beaverton team.

• Responding constructively and proactively to formal and informal performance feedback.

• Performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

‖ Qualifications Required:

• Master's degree or higher in social work, counseling or a closely related field of study.
• Licensed currently or eligible to obtain an applicable Oregon state social work credential, including licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), licensed master social worker (LMSW), school social worker (SSW or TCPC).
  • Candidates holding an active out-of-state school social worker (SSW) or comparable social work license may be considered if eligible to obtain a preliminary school social worker credential through the Oregon state reciprocal licensure pathway.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.
• Prior experience providing social worker services to children, preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.
• Highly skilled in working with children with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional behavioral disorders and/or other related disabilities.
• Prior experience and/or knowledge in working with students with individualized education plans (IEP's).
• Well-versed in applied behavior analysis (ABA) including positive behavior interventions & supports (PBIS), functional behavior analysis (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP's).
• Highly skilled in building and maintaining effective relationships with students, parents, teachers and community and/or district partners.
• Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency situation and make independent decisions.
• Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving and decision-making ability.
• Knowledge of relevant technology including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.
