Job Application - Cortland County Community Action Program Job Posting OPEN Family Support Specialist Position: Family SupportSpecialist Program: Healthy Families component of the Early Childhood Development Program Reports to: Program Supervisor,Healthy Families Status: Full-time,Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday through Friday, 37.5hours per week Starting Wage: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour Valid Drivers License is required for this position Job Function: Responsible forestablishing a trusting relationship with families through initiating andmaintaining regular, long-term contact with families for the purpose ofstrengthening the parent-child relationship, providing child developmentinformation, offering support in the areas of goal setting and problem solving. Essential Duties andResponsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Initiate and maintain regular contactwithfamilies,primarilyintheir homes. While hours are typicallyMonday-Friday from 8-4 the availability for later appointment times withfamilies may be needed. Conduct interviews in the home to identify atrisk families and making appropriate referralsto community resources. Whenin person visits occur, you will be required to travel throughout thecounty daily and the use of your personal vehicle may be requiredsometimes. Provideprenatalandotherhewateeducation Assist families to strengthen parent-child relationships, provide resources asnecessary. Assist parents to improve their skills to optimize thehome environment for the child's well-being and safety. Timely and accurate documentationin a computer-based information system daily. Assist Program participants in making and attending health and human service appointments,includingactivitiesrelatedtoemploymentandeducational goals. Keep the Program leadershipadvised on unified community concerns and issues on a regular basisthrough scheduled meetings. Applicant must be able to maintain strictconfidentiality and appropriate boundaries with families based on policiesby local agency and funding sources. Work cooperatively with otherCAPCO programs and community agencies Maintain functional knowledge of other local,state, and federal programs relating to low income individuals. Work withother human services agencies in order to create more effective flow ofservice in the community. Participate in training programs which relate tojob responsibilities. Home visiting is based on community healthconditions, there will be times that most or all visits may be conductedvirtually rather than in person. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum of a high schooldiploma or equivalent, plus 3 years’ experience or Associated degree in humanservice field with at least 1 year experience in working with or providingservices to children and families, an ability to establish trustingrelationships, acceptance of individual differences, experience and humility towork with the culturally diverse families, knowledge of infant and child development,willing to engage in building reflective capacity (e.g., capacity forintrospection, communicating awareness of self in relation to others,recognizing value of supervision, etc.), infant mental health endorsementpreferred. Must have a valid driver's license and successfully complete background check .
