Position Overview Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Group Home Setting Pay: $18.00 - $18.50 per hour Turning Leaf Agency seeks compassionate, dependable, and motivated DSPs to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential group home setting. Schedule Options Full-Time Part-Time Per Diem All shifts available (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Weekends) Essential Responsibilities Provide direct care and support based on individualized needs and goals. Assist with daily living skills, community activities, recreational opportunities, and social development. Promote independence while maintaining a safe and supportive environment. Treat all individuals with dignity, respect, and professionalism. Maintain appropriate documentation and complete required reports accurately and timely. Communicate effectively with supervisors, residential staff, guardians, medical professionals, and team members. Ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals served. Assist with transportation to appointments, activities, and community outings. Perform light housekeeping and help maintain cleanliness of the home, vehicles, and equipment. Respond appropriately to emergencies, including medical or behavioral situations. Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and agency events. Follow all agency policies, DDS regulations, and safety procedures. Preferably 1–2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Valid Connecticut Driver’s License required. Insurable through the agency’s insurance carrier. Reliable transportation required. Ability to pass all required background checks and screenings. Must obtain DDS Medication Certification within three months of employment. Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed. Physical Requirements Lift up to 50 pounds. Bend, twist, reach, and assist individuals as needed. Operate agency vehicles safely. Respond quickly to emergency situations. Required Training CPR First Aid PMT DDS Medication Certification Other mandatory trainings as assigned. Work Location Canterbury and surrounding Connecticut locations, including Brooklyn and Wethersfield. Employment Type Full‑time, Part‑time, and Per Diem.
