Grossing Technician - Laboratory - Per Diem 8 Hour Day Shift (Union)

Job Overview The Grossing Technician performs high complexity testing and is responsible for all duties related to the gross examination of noncomplex surgical tissue specimens for histologic examination. Education An earned associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution. OR educational/training equivalent to the preceding that includes at least 60 semester hours, with 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses. OR 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination. Experience & Knowledge Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute and familiarity with computers and word processing software. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 1 year of experience working in a Pathology Laboratory (preferred). 1 year of secretarial/administrative assistant experience (preferred). 1 year of experience grossing small and large surgical specimens (preferred).
