Setup Machinist TechnicianSetup Machinists are responsible for preparing and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments from metal. They load materials, tools, and programs into CNC machine equipment to prepare for production and verify the dimensions of the first part completed to ensure conformance to specifications. Utilizing their knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures, Setup Machinists produce high-quality parts independently within established procedures.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC machines, including mills and lathes, ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate production.Load material during operation and change or adjust cutting tools and offsets as required.Determine if programs need updates or modifications to meet current conditions and provide feedback to team members.Deburr products to drawing requirements using hand and power tools with high precision.Check and fill machine fluid levels, manage chips, and monitor equipment for maintenance requirements.Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to guide activities and ensure quality.Perform inspections of completed work and document deviations from engineering drawings.Follow verbal, written, and electronic work instructions to complete tasks.Maintain daily production records and record pertinent manufacturing data as required.Learn, practice, and follow all safety standards and policies, ensuring a safe operating environment, including the use of protective equipment and identification of potential safety concerns.Maintain a clean and organized work environment.Essential SkillsMinimum of 2 years of CNC setup and operation experience.Proficiency in reading blueprints.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Mazak machines.Programming experience.Why Work Here?This company offers a competitive benefits package and is dedicated to the advancement of general aviation. Employees can work 1st shift from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday or 2nd shift from 4:00 pm to 2:30 am Monday to Friday, with overtime as needed.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Duluth, MN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
