Lead Staff Counsel Procedural Review Auditor - Attorney [Remote]

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Staff Counsel Procedural Review Auditor - Attorney based in the United States.

This fully remote legal role focuses on independently auditing Staff Counsel files to evaluate case-handling quality, procedural compliance, reporting accuracy, and adherence to established standards. You will provide objective findings and recommendations to management while identifying policy gaps, reporting irregularities, and opportunities for improvement. The position combines substantial litigation experience with legal auditing, quality assurance, and procedural analysis. You will analyze trends across reviewed files and present insights to senior management and Staff Counsel leaders. Your work will contribute to stronger legal processes, consistent case handling, and the development of effective best practices. The role requires strong judgment, communication, organization, and the ability to manage complex legal and procedural information while traveling to offices nationwide.

Accountabilities:

• Conduct comprehensive audits of Staff Counsel files to measure case-handling quality and assess compliance with applicable policies, procedures, standards, reporting requirements, and established best practices.
• Review office practices and case documentation objectively, identifying quality concerns, procedural violations, reporting irregularities, policy gaps, loopholes, and other issues that may affect legal operations.
• Provide timely post-audit feedback to management regarding cases requiring immediate attention and communicate identified violations or areas of concern clearly and professionally.
• Serve as an independent source of recommendations for senior management, using audit findings and legal expertise to identify opportunities to strengthen procedures, controls, and overall case-handling effectiveness.
• Prepare and present reports analyzing audit trends and findings to senior management and Staff Counsel Managers, translating detailed reviews into clear conclusions and actionable recommendations.
• Contribute to the development of legal best practices and recommend improvements to existing policies, procedures, and audit methodologies.
• Manage multiple priorities effectively, follow complex procedural instructions, resolve or facilitate the resolution of conflicts, and maintain clear, concise, and professional documentation.
• Apply extensive legal and procedural knowledge when reviewing matters involving significant severity and complexity, maintaining professional communication with management, colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Travel to Staff Counsel offices across the country as required, with an expectation of approximately 25% travel .

Requirements:

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions, with the ability to meet and maintain all required licensing obligations, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable.
• Minimum of 7 years of litigation experience , including experience in insurance defense or personal injury litigation.
• Demonstrated experience handling cases involving significant severity and complexity, with strong legal judgment and the ability to assume primary responsibility for complex matters.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to concentrate, assimilate substantial amounts of information, identify patterns and irregularities, and develop well-supported recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present audit findings and recommendations clearly to senior management and legal leadership.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking capabilities, with the ability to manage competing responsibilities and follow detailed procedures consistently.
• Ability to learn and apply large amounts of technical, legal, and procedural information and translate findings into practical process improvements.
• Strong documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, professional written records that can be understood by clients, customers, colleagues, and other organizational stakeholders.
• Professional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through written correspondence or email.
• Ability to use standard office technology, including keyboards, mice, and multiple pieces of office equipment, and perform the physical functions required for the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to travel nationally approximately 25% of the time to support staff counsel office audits.
• Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without new employment-authorization sponsorship for this position.
