Medical Assistant

Schedule: Monday Friday, 40 hours/week



Shift: 6:00 AM and 4:30 PM

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to support healthcare operations at a Federal Medical Center/correctional healthcare facility in Devens, MA.

The Medical Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers and assist with patient care activities, medical documentation, examinations, and clinic operations.

Responsibilities

• Take patient medical histories and prepare medical data for provider visits.
• Prepare pertinent forms and documentation for physicians and Advanced Practice Providers.
• Maintain office and patient care-related supplies.
• Perform and accurately record patient vital signs in the electronic medical record.
• File and scan medical records.
• Provide patient education regarding basic health conditions and treatment plans.
• Assist with initial patient triage and chronic care clinics.
• Prepare examination rooms for patient visits.
• Assist providers with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures.
• Assist providers during examinations by handing instruments and performing basic procedures.
• Answer phones and manage patient requests.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Perform other Medical Assistant duties as required to support the healthcare team.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program from an accredited institution is preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred:
  • CMA Certified Medical Assistant
  • RMA Registered Medical Assistant
  • NCMA National Certified Medical Assistant
  • CCMA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
• Current CPR/BLS certification is required.

Ideal Candidate

Candidates with Medical Assistant experience in a clinical, hospital, outpatient, urgent care, primary care, correctional healthcare, or similar healthcare environment are encouraged to apply.

Candidates should be comfortable working in a structured healthcare environment, interacting professionally with patients, maintaining accurate medical records, and supporting providers with both clinical and administrative duties.

Work Environment

This position is based within a Federal Medical Center/correctional healthcare setting . Candidates should be comfortable providing healthcare services in a structured institutional environment and following established facility policies and procedures.

Benefits

Health & Welfare allowance of $5.09/hour is included in the stated pay rate.
