Analyze technical data, designs, or preliminary specifications

Bid fabrication or production projects

Compute cost estimates of projects

Confer with vendors and sub-contractors

Convert design specifications to cost estimates

Estimate costs of materials, labor, production, time, installation and repair

Identify suppliers

Interpret maps and blueprints and specifications

Prepare periodic reports

Use computers, other electronic equipment and appropriate software

Use statistical cost estimation methods

Estimations completed by target date

Skills

6-8 years in Estimating (preferred), preferably in fabrication and/or design, with increasing responsibilities. Should have knowledge or competencies in fabrication and production; design; mathematics; language; and public safety and security. Skills should include effective reading comprehension; critical thinking; coordination and instructing. Abilities should include effective oral expression and comprehension; problem solving; reasoning.
