Job Summary

Pittsburgh, PA | Rosslyn Farms

Start Date: ASAP, but flexible for the perfect fit

Hours: Monday to friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm; flexibility to start earlier or end later with advanced notice would be great

Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours/week

Hourly Rate: $30-35/hr DOE

Children: 4-year-old, 18-month-old, and newborn due in December

Pets: One small hypoallergenic dog

Paid Vacation:

• 1 week family choice
• 1 week nanny choice
• 5 sick or personal days
• All Major holidays

Requirements:

• Up-to-date vaccinations required
• Tdap and MMR required
• Annual Flu shot strongly preferred

Responsibilities and Duties

WHO/WHAT: Five years. Two kids. One more on the way.  Two growing careers. And apparently, no interest in slowing down. Through all of it, they've built their family around a pretty great philosophy: be brave enough to try but kind enough to help, love big and laugh often.  And honestly, that tells you a lot about the childhood they're trying to create.

Their almost-four-year-old is curious, smart, and incredibly kind—the kind of kid who often seems older than she is. Her 18-month-old sister is equally bright and sweet, with a little more of a do-first-think-later approach to life. Add a newborn this winter, and yes, your hands will be full—but in the best, bubbles-on-the-driveway, baby-on-your-hip, somebody-is-probably-wearing-a-princess-dress kind of way. Both parents work full-time outside of the home, so they're looking for someone experienced enough to confidently take ownership of the children's days. Their oldest attends preschool four mornings a week, giving the week some natural rhythm  for more one-on-one time with the younger children. Mom will have about four months of maternity leave, giving everyone some time to settle into life with baby #3 together. Depending on the day, you might be packing everyone up for the playground, wandering the Children's Museum, swimming, tackling a craft project, cooking something together, building an obstacle course, or simply heading outside and seeing where everyone's imagination takes you. A family vehicle is provided, and this family wants a nanny who is comfortable actually using it.

One thing you won't be doing? Handing everyone an iPad. This is a decidedly low-screen household—for the kids and the grown-ups caring for them. They want childhood to involve playing outside, coloring, dress-up, books, conversation, imagination, adventures, and learning how to be a person in the real world. They're looking for a nanny who genuinely enjoys being present with children and doesn't need a phone nearby to make it through an afternoon. Their parenting style is nurturing with plenty of structure. They believe children thrive with routines, clear expectations, and adults who calmly show them what to do. Redirect. Explain. Model.  They also believe kids should absolutely get to be kids while learning that they're part of a household—which might mean helping put toys away, carrying something to the table, or taking pride in accomplishing a little job themselves.

With three young children, keeping their world organized is also part of caring for them well. This family keeps a clean, organized home, prioritizes healthy foods, and appreciates someone who naturally notices when the diaper stash is dwindling or the art cabinet looks like a glitter bomb went off and simply takes care of it. There's a small, low-maintenance dog who would love being let out into the yard. Most days will follow a consistent schedule, but occasionally being able to come a little earlier or stay later—with advance notice—would be incredibly helpful. The family also travels and would love to have a nanny who is willing to join them on occasion.

THE IDEAL NANNY IS… EXPERIENCED ENOUGH TO TAKE THE LEAD, ENERGETIC ENOUGH TO KEEP UP. You've done this before. Newborns don't intimidate you, toddler logic doesn't surprise you, and you understand that a four-year-old who sounds remarkably grown-up is still very much four. You're active, creative, nurturing, and genuinely interactive. You'll get on the floor. Do the craft. Read the book. Pack the snacks. Go on the adventure. And when that adventure ends because someone's banana broke in half, you have the patience and sense of humor to roll with that too. You're organized and proactive. You communicate. If something needs to be restocked, washed, packed, or reset within the children's world, you take care of it. You're confident without being rigid and experienced enough to own your role without needing constant direction.

Most importantly, you're looking for somewhere to stay. They want a caregiver who knows their children's personalities, remembers their phases, grows alongside them, and becomes a trusted part of their childhood. There are bottles, preschool drop-offs, museum days, first steps, and big-kid milestones. There’s a lot of growing up ahead. They’d love for you to be there for all of it.

Requirements and Benefits

• Nanny must have a driver's license, vehicle, and a clean driving record

• Nanny MUST have previous nanny experience for a minimum of 2 years.
