Per Diem Medical AssistantNorth Shore Community Health (NSCH) is an industry leader in exceptional delivery of community healthcare. We are looking for a Per Diem Medical Assistant (MA) for our Peabody Family Health Center. Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager the Medical Assistant is responsible in assisting providers (physicians, NP, Behavioral health, nurses) with patient visits including administrative, clinical and laboratory duties. The Per Diem MA is expected to sign up for at least 1 shift/month. All shifts must be worked onsite, working directly with a provider to room patients. We demonstrate this commitment by constantly striving to align our actions with our mission, vision, and values.Duties/Responsibilities:Provides outstanding customer service, both to internal and external customersScreens patients according to established protocol including but not limited to height, weight, urine testing, hematocrits, vision testing, blood pressure, PHQ-9Prepares paperwork for referrals and provides translation services as neededObtains tests as delineated, and sets up for procedures as listed under the MA competency checklistPerforms the tasks within the EMR as listed in the MA competency checklistParticipates in the orders, hospital discharge and ER trackingClean and stock exam rooms, maintain sterilization statistics, and an inventory control systemPerform quality assurance tests as necessaryAnswers phone or EMR message when needed. Contacts patients, via letter, telephone or patient portal and schedule patients as neededHIPAA: Maintains integrity and completeness of medical record and patient confidentialityCopy and fax documents as neededManages durable medical equipment requests. Assists with visiting nurse referrals and prior authorizationsPerforms additional duties to fulfill NSCH's mission, as assigned.Completion of NSCH-required Compliance Training before the deadlineRequirements:Graduate of a Medical Assistant program preferredExperience working in a medical field as a CNA, EMT, Phlebotomy and other related fieldsStudents in a Medical fieldCompletion or willingness to complete Basic Life Support training (CPR)Ability to work effectively as part of the teamWillingness to be flexible about work assignmentsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsThe ability to float between the three sites and commute onsiteBilingual especially Spanish or Portuguese a plusCurrent vaccination against COVID, Flu, pertussis and tetanus.Competency in working with Microsoft Office Suite and Epic is a plusAt North Shore Community Health, we are dedicated to building a diverse workforce.
