Third (Nights) Overview: Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for 1 East Ortho Spine Bariatrics Unit. This is a Full Time, third shift position in Suffolk, VA. Sign on Bonus up to $8,000 available for qualified candidates! Hours: 7P to 7A with rotating weekend schedule. About the Unit: 1 East Surgery Unit is a 24-bed unit specializing in orthopedics, spine, and bariatrics, designed to provide high-quality, short-stay care. The team also sees high acuity surgical patients from Endoscopy, General surgery and GI. Average patient stay is 1 to 2 days. The RN staff can expect a 1:5 or 1:6 ratio and can expect an average of 6 to 8 patient discharges per shift. It is a well-staffed, fast-paced environment that values ongoing staff development through a comprehensive orientation program, where managers and educators meet biweekly to refine learning strategies and enhance clinical skills. This makes 1 East Surgery an excellent environment for both experienced Registered Nurses and new graduates eager to build their expertise. The team is supported by Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) who assist with 8 to 12 patients and assist with ambulation, labs, and other patient care tasks, ensuring seamless patient support. The presence of dedicated Unit Coordinators and experienced preceptors fosters a nurturing learning environment, making it an ideal place for skill development, professional growth, and long-term career advancement for those committed to excellence in surgical and orthopedic patient care.
