Payroll Analyst

Payroll Analyst – Progyny Reporting to the Payroll Director, this role focuses on ensuring accurate, timely payroll for salaried, hourly employees, and equity payroll using Workday. Responsibilities Assist with day‑to‑day payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of semi‑monthly payrolls for salaried and hourly employees and weekly equity payrolls. Ensure payroll processes comply with SOX, federal, and state regulations, including wage and hour laws. Collaborate with the accounting team to confirm payroll is accurately recorded and reconciled. Prepare monthly payroll reconciliations as part of the close process. Partner with HR and Finance to perform analyses and generate reports for compensation planning and financial analysis. Act as a payroll resource for employees, addressing payroll queries. Lead payroll‑related projects, including continuous process improvements, system enhancements, and scalable automation. Identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency, establishing best practices for payroll administration, and provide recommendations to senior management. Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly and annual audits. Assist with equity compensation, including processing payrolls and performing reconciliations. Qualifications 3+ years of payroll experience with a mid‑to‑large size company. Proficiency in Workday HRIS. Undergraduate degree or higher preferred. Extensive knowledge of payroll processing, tax implications, and accounting procedures. Strong planning, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills. Curiosity and self‑driven problem‑solving ability. Self‑management skills: work independently in a fast‑paced environment, self‑time management, attention to detail, multitasking. Proven collaboration and rapport‑building with peers and stakeholders. Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX). Must be based in the United States; mandatory work authorization without sponsorship required. Compensation Annual salary range for NYC‑based applicants: $80,000 - $95,000.
