Adjunct Instructor of Auto Body

Compensation: $801 per credit hour CompensationType: Exempt Employment Type: Adjunct/Part Time Faculty (Fixed Term) Position Summary Adjunct faculty serve as temporary part-time faculty and are appointed as needed on a semester by semester basis. The primary duty is effective teaching of college-level courses and/or labs in the qualified discipline. San Juan College may approve remote or hybrid work for adjunct employees within New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Texas (states subject to change at any time). All requests for remote work must be approved in advance by the Dean and Human Resources. Remote work options for locations outside of the United States are not permitted. This position reports to the Coordinator and is responsible for developing and revising instructional materials; presenting material in an organized manner; evaluating student learning; maintaining student records; teaching day, evening, weekend, and on-line classes, as assigned; teaching at the main and/or satellite campuses, as assigned; maintaining a minimum of 1 office hour per week per assigned course; participating in Adjunct Professional Development activities; demonstrating and promoting the school values of: Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Excellence. Major Duties Teach automotive collision repair, refinishing, structural repair, non-structural repair, estimating, welding, and related courses as assigned. Develop, revise, and maintain course materials, syllabi, lesson plans, laboratory exercises, and instructional resources that align with industry standards and program outcomes. Present course content in an organized, engaging, and effective manner using a variety of instructional methods. Demonstrate and supervise proper use of automotive collision repair tools, equipment, machinery, and safety procedures. Evaluate student learning through examinations, practical assessments, projects, assignments, and laboratory performance. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students regarding academic progress and skill development. Required Qualifications Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in automotive collision repair, refinishing, or a closely related field. Demonstrated knowledge of collision repair techniques, vehicle damage analysis, structural and non-structural repairs, refinishing processes, and industry safety standards. Preferred Qualifications Associate Degree in Automotive Technology, Collision Repair, Vocational Education, or a related field. Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Education, Automotive Technology, Technical Education, or related discipline. Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or instructional experience. Industry certifications such as: ASE Collision Repair Certifications I-CAR Certifications OEM Manufacturer Certifications Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience. Experience with traditional face-to-face, hybrid and online courses and the ability to use San Juan College’s Learning Management System (Canvas) as well as technology-enhanced curriculum. Access to home internet, a personal computer, and telephone is required. Demonstrates skill and willingness to learn and use multiple technology platforms to communicate with students. Adjunct faculty are paid biweekly. Adjunct faculty are paid at either $801 per credit hour, or at an hourly rate as applicable. Adjunct faculty teaching one (1) credit class or more are eligible for the tuition waiver benefit. Tuition may be waived for one class, up to four (4) credit hours per semester, and any one (1) creditHHPCFitness Conditioning class for each semester they are employed. If transferring to a qualified family member, proof of family status is required (i.e., marriage certificate, affidavit of domestic partnership or birth certificate) and must be verified by Human Resources. Employee Assistance Program Available 24 /7 – Provides 3FREEsessions for services such as short-term counseling and assessments, referrals, prevention/education resources, and crisis intervention Voluntary Benefits Allstate/Aflac Liberty Mutual Adjunct faculty teaching three (3) or more credit hours will have Educational Retirement Board (ERB) contributions withheld each pay period. Contribution rates and retirement eligibility are available on the State of New Mexico Educational Retirement Board website Adjunct faculty are not medical benefit eligible. State and federal taxes,FICAand social security will be withheld for all adjunct faculty. The completion of a satisfactory background check is required.
