Elks Old Hangout Assistant Manager (AAM) Job Category: FOH - Pub and Bar Requisition Number: ELKSO011463 Type: Part‑Time Location Elks Temple 565 Broadway Tacoma, WA 98402, USA Job Information Wage: $19.13 Description of the Position: The primary responsibility of AAM is to oversee all small bar operations under the guidance of the Bar Manager and Bar Assistant Manager. The position will include performing the duties of other non‑management small bar positions (bartender, server, etc.) and handling all opening and closing duties. The AAM will ensure smooth and effective running of the bars, maintain excellent customer relations, and may serve guests with orders, delivery, payment collection, cashiering, and point‑of‑sale operations. Responsibilities also include setting up, maintaining, and breaking down service areas; regulating labor; overseeing side work; performing cleaning duties; supervising and training staff; administrative tasks such as scheduling and payroll; addressing personnel and customer issues; counting and distributing tip pool; and assuring customer satisfaction. The AAM must be available to troubleshoot problems, fill in for the head manager when on vacation, and handle the hard physical work that requires mental agility and multitasking in a fast‑paced environment. Requirements of the Job: Obtain and maintain current food handlers and OLCC/WA liquor license Previous bartending experience is preferred Previous management experience is preferred but not required Excellent knowledge of wine, ales, and spirits is required Ability to accurately handle cash and work with numbers Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to remain calm and focused in a high‑volume, deadline‑oriented work environment Ability to supervise other employees effectively Working knowledge of all company policies and procedures Essential Functions of the Job: Provide excellent customer service in a high‑volume environment Safely lift and carry heavy objects with a hand truck or assistance if necessary Value diversity and work with individuals from different backgrounds Work for long periods on feet, including frequent walking and stair climbing Perform repetitive movements such as pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and stooping Handle fine hand manipulation including small and large objects, computer usage, writing, chopping, and use of kitchen equipment Communicate clearly Be positive, polite, and cooperative with co‑workers, managers, vendors, and customers Work with and around sharp objects, including knives and slicers Work with chemicals used in cleaning and sanitizing (some locations may involve cigar or cigarette smoke) Most important, this job requires a positive attitude, a value for diversity, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
