Specialist Payroll

The primary responsibility of the Specialist Payroll is to verify, maintain, and audit the payroll and time & attendance information in order to accurately process payroll checks. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort's policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process and balance payroll cycles, including but not limited to entering miscellaneous incomes, deductions, and adjustments.
  • Work with departments and Team Members to maintain information in the payroll and time & attendance systems.
  • Collaborate with management and Team Members to resolve payroll and time & attendance concerns.
  • Possess skills to expedite clerical processing, evaluate information, enter data, and implement or act based upon information.
  • Verify data entry in both payroll and time & attendance systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, as well as The Venetian Resort's policies and procedures.
  • Process garnishments, IRS levies and child support orders in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Compile data, summarize results, and prepare reports.
  • Coordinate, deliver, retrieve, and sort incoming and outgoing mail.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct mathematical calculations to determine actions to be taken or records to be affected.
  • Investigate and calculate complex pay scenarios.
  • Fulfill information requests per confidentiality guidelines.
  • Classify, store, retrieve, and update information of all varieties.
  • Adhere to standard naming conventions and record retention guidelines for hard copy files, electronic records, correspondence, cards, invoices, receipts, and other information and/or records.
  • Dispose of obsolete files in accordance with established retirement schedule or legal requirements.
  • Effectively operate office equipment including but not limited to fax machines, photocopiers, computers, and microfilming machines.
  • Complete assigned tasks according to established guidelines or procedures.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.

Company Standards of Conduct

All The Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company's standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • Experience on a payroll system and/or time & attendance system preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in ten-key by touch, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
  • Working knowledge of multi-employer, multi-state payroll processing, general ledger posting, employment/payroll laws and regulations and payroll tax returns.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift or carry 10 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
