Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Shift Night (United States of America) Job Description A Polysomnographic Technologist II has passed examination and obtained an RPSGT credential by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) and/or an R. EEG T credential by ABRET. Performs all duties of Sleep Technologist I. This position performs comprehensive sleep testing analysis and associated interventions under the general supervision of the clinical director (M.D., D.O., or PH.D.) or designee. Has the ability to complete administrative tasks as well as technical duties. Participates as educator and preceptor for new Polysomnographic technologist as well as trainees. This is a technical position with no supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance to a Polysomnographic Technologist I. Essential Job Functions Scores sleep/wake stages and scoring clinical events (such as respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc.) utilizing AASM standards. Generates accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data. Demonstrates critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision to analyze complex situations and applies policy. Maintains continuing education requirements for credential by reviewing literature and attending continuing education meetings and seminars. Inspects and maintains sleep study related equipment and inventory. Participates in the quality assurance program. Responds to sleep patients’ procedural-related inquiries by providing appropriate education utilizing sleep center protocols. Calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment. Selects amplifier settings, obtains quality data, and analyzes data during recordings. Performs data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identifies, corrects and documents artifact. Implements appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.). Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others. Orients new Polysomnographic Technologists and participates as educator for internal Lurie Sleep Training program. Performs other job functions as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities High school diploma or GED required. RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) by BRPT and/or R. EEG T (Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist) by ABRET required. CCSH (Certification in Clinical Sleep Health) by BRPT preferred. Two years of college or equivalents preferred, or 3–5 years of experience performing polysomnography preferred. Current CPR or BLS certification required. Demonstrated effective written and spoken communication skills. Ability to move machines and patients weighing in excess of 25 pounds. Ability to comply with BRPT standards of conduct. Education High School Diploma/GED (Required). (BLS) - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association. Pay Range $28.50–$46.60 Hourly. At Lurie Children’s, the pay range represents minimum and maximum targets for the position, regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
