At North Memorial Animal Hospital, we believe the best veterinarians are developed through hands‑on experience, encouragement, and exceptional mentorship. Whether you're looking to build confidence in medicine, surgery, client communication, or simply discover the type of practice you want to join after graduation, we're excited to help you get there. What Makes Our Externship Different? Mentorship is our priority. Our experienced veterinarians love teaching and are passionate about helping students grow. We take the time to explain cases, answer questions, discuss treatment options, and encourage you to become an active part of the medical team. During your externship, you'll have opportunities to: Assist with surgeries and dentistry Work up medical cases alongside our doctors Interpret radiographs and laboratory results Learn ultrasound and other diagnostic techniques Develop client communication and case management skills Experience the day-to-day operations of a progressive small animal practice We want you to ask questions, gain confidence, and leave feeling more prepared for your veterinary career. A Practice You'll Enjoy We have all the modern equipment you'd expect—including ultrasound, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, laser therapy, and advanced monitoring equipment—but our greatest asset is our team. Our highly trained support staff helps our doctors practice efficient, high‑quality medicine every day.
