Elementary Teacher Assistant

Under the direction of the teacher, the General Education Teacher Assistant must provide instructional assistance to all students addressing language, reading, math, physical needs, and vocational skills.

Compensation: Building Based on PPIA Multiple 185 Days Non-Exempt Principal Table Locations $18.37- $21.52/hr

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Teacher, the General Education Teacher Assistant must provide instructional assistance to all students addressing language, reading, math, physical needs, and vocational skills.

Qualifications:

• Associates degree or 60 credit hours.
• Experience is preferred but not required for hire.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide instructional and classroom support under the direction of the classroom teacher to promote student learning and achievement.
• Assist in implementing classroom lessons, activities, and educational programs in collaboration with the lead teacher.
• Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and assist with updating instructional goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher regarding parent and guardian communications, ensuring all correspondence and student-related concerns are communicated appropriately.
• Prepare instructional materials, classroom resources, and weekly activity schedules as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and assist with the preparation and coordination of student progress reports.
• Support the health, safety, supervision, and personal care needs of students throughout the school day.
• Collaborate with special education staff, interventionists, counselors, and other support personnel to implement student support services and program requirements.
• Supervise classroom volunteers and assist in coordinating their activities when assigned.
• Prepare reports, correspondence, and other documentation as requested by the classroom teacher or school administrator.
• Provide courteous, professional, and responsive assistance to students, families, staff, and visitors.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations by following district policies and notifying the appropriate personnel.
• Assist ill or injured students by providing appropriate support and following established health and safety procedures.
• Remain calm and exercise sound judgment when responding to urgent or unexpected situations.
• Complete student and employee accident reports accurately and within required timelines.
• Support instructional preparation by assisting with assessments, grading, attendance, recordkeeping, inventory, copying materials, and other classroom organizational tasks.
• Assist with student arrival, dismissal, hallway supervision, lunch, recess, and other assigned supervisory responsibilities.
• Reinforce classroom expectations and support the implementation of school and classroom behavior management procedures.
• Assist with school-wide events and activities, including field trips, assemblies, fire drills, parent conferences, curriculum nights, and other building functions.
• Support student enrollment, registration, and recruitment activities for general education, special education, and summer learning programs as assigned.
• Provide interpretation or translation services for students and families, individually or in small groups, when bilingual skills are needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher, building administrator, or district leadership.

Physical Requirements:

• Regular sitting, speaking, hearing, and use of hands. Occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
