Mechanical Technician

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Repair and build Holland flash-butt welding equipment and rail pullers Inspection of welding equipment components during disassembling and assembling Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic welding systems Using a variety of hand and power tools and testing equipment to service Holland welding equipment Follow program directives to perform mechanical testing on various components of the welder head and puller Operate Holland automatic flash-butt welding equipment during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) Repair and restore worn or damaged components to standard service conditions Build and test hydraulic manifolds Setup and confirm function of welding equipment after build and/or repair MIG and stick welding during fabrication of welding quadrant Supply on time and quality products to all Holland customers Ensure welding equipment produces welds meeting AREMA specifications Work with suppliers and other divisions to ensure correct functions of Holland welding equipment Assist with training new employees on divisional repair and assembly practices Participate in technical training programs as requested Maintain safety discipline practices and enforcement of main shop safety rules Maintain clean and organized work areas Maintain shop paper work and work instruction accuracy Assist WTG engineering department with E.C.R.’S, N.C.R.’S, O.F.I’S, I.F.S. Procedures and work instructions etc. as required Travel as required Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Standing, walking, stooping, crouching, reaching, kneeling and bending, for extended periods required to perform basic functions along with some sitting Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is regularly required Vision must be sufficient for reading electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical prints and schematics Ability to climb a steep ladder frequently Ability to move up and down from trucks

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Exposure on a regular basis to mostly indoor and sometimes outdoor weather conditions Could be working at off sight locations either inside or outside Shop environment, dry conditions, heated shop, non-air conditioned All safety related gear and PPE provided

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 5 years’ experience with the follow: Electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical knowledge Minimum 5 years’ experience welding experience with using mig, tig, and stick Minimum 5 years’ experience metal cutting skills using gas oxygen torch and plasma cutting to repair of basic steel structures Minimum 5 years’ experience working on or performing maintenance and or repairs on various heavy industrial hydraulic and mechanical operated equipment Read tape measure, mic’s and calipers Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical prints and schematics Working knowledge of the proper use of electrical diagnostic instruments and measurements tools Ability to use and get certified on forklifts Ability to use manlifts, scissor lifts Experience using basic hand tools, fasteners and power tools (drills, grinders, etc.) Develop clear understanding of Holland quality expectations or requirements Ability to understand bills of material and non-conformance procedures Able to work effectively as a team member Good safety awareness and behavior Good written and oral communication skills Takes ownership in solving problems Able to meet deadlines Self-motivated; motivated by improvement and performance #J-18808-Ljbffr Cedar Electronics
