Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Dickinson Independent School District SPECIAL PROGRAMS - Dickinson, Texas Open in Google Maps This job is also posted in Dickinson Independent School District Job Details Job ID: 5853452 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Re-Posted: Aug 05, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026 Job Description Position: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Department: Special Programs Wage/Hour Status Exempt Immediate Supervisor(s): Supervising SLP and Executive Director of Special Programs Pay Grade: Per Compensation Manual Days Employed: Per Compensation Manual POSITION SUMMARY: Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with speech and language disorders Implement a therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with students' ability to derive full benefit from the educational program Work under the direction of supervising Speech-Language Pathologist QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree Valid Texas Depart of Licensure state license in speech pathology Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of habitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions Ability to instruct and manage student behavior Working knowledge of computers, word processing, and software related to field and district reporting Excellent organizational skills Ability to communicate well in oral and written form Effective interpersonal skills Ability to work as a team member Experience: Entry-level MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained inthe Individual Education Plans (IEP) Plan and provide indirect services as consistent in the Individual Education Plan (IEP and as directed by the Supervisor Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level and interests of students Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook Assessmen t Administer routine screenings as determined by direct supervising SLP Administer routine tests without interpretation as determined by direct supervising SLP Consultation Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other professionals to implement classroom activities to improve the communication skills of students not directly on caseload and on caseload Provide professional development in assigned schools to help school personnel identify and understand communication deficits in students under the direction of supervising SLP Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents regarding the accomplishment of therapy goals and needs of the student under the direction of supervising SLP Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, SHARS billing and other required documents Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, TDLR rules and regulations, and district/ board policy Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment Provide Therapy and attendance logs as district procedures require Comply with TDLR rules and regulations as required to maintain a license Plan and schedule services effectively and efficiently Collaborate and work well as part of a team Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents. Complete all documentation required for Medicaid and SHARS billing within the required timeline Follow the A-Z Special Education Operating Guidelines Admission, Review & Dismissal Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents Provide Documentation as requested for ARD meetings Attend ARD committee meetings for and/or with Supervising SLP if requested and in compliance with TDLR Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations EXPECTATIONS OF MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job Tools/Equipment Used : Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students Posture: Frequent standing; kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Frequent walking and reaching Lifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); heavy lifting (45 pounds or over) and positioning or students with physical disabilities, controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting non-ambulatory students, and lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipment Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards (body fluids, bacteria, communicable diseases) Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress Professional Dress: Dress must be clean, neat, in a manner appropriate for his or her assignment, and in accordance with any additional standards established by his or her Supervisor and approved by the Superintendent. During work hours, visible body piercings (except earrings) will not be allowed.
