The Dean of Students office plays a vital role in the overall success and well-being of the student body by advocating for student needs and fostering a positive campus culture. Serving students through a holistic non-clinical care management services and providing wrap-around support, referrals, and guidance.his position/classification may be moved at management's discretion within the SSW-B division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Success and Well-Being or his/her designee.**The Opportunity**:The Associate Director's primary responsibility is to provide oversight and non-clinical case management for student's facing mental health crises while proactively supporting students to manage personal crises and barriers that can impede their overall success and well-being. The Associate Director will oversee and coordinate on and off campus referrals and resources for students, mandatory processes and procedures and facilitate thorough follow up after the immediate crisis has been resolved. This position supports the division of SSW-B in helping the university ensure the safety of the university community, while balancing the needs, well-being, retention, and persistence to graduation of individual students. While the Associate Director may develop strong and supportive relationships with students, this position will not engage in individual therapeutic relationships as it is a non-clinical case management position. This position/classification may be moved at management's discretion within the SSW-B division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Success and Well-Being or his/her designee.**Responsibilities:*** Review and triage student of concern reports related to mental health and well-being on a daily basis.* Provide leadership to the Dean of Student's office and other campus entities on mental health and well-being strategies and support.* Develop close working relationships with Counseling and Psychological Services, UCF PD, Housing and Residence Life, on and off campus partners and/or Assistant Dean/Dean of Students or designee in situations where there are immediate concerns for the students safety or the safety of others in the community.* Serve on the Student of Concern Team and collaborate on action plans to address concerns. Serve as a member of the University Crisis Team. Serve on division and university committees, as needed.* Oversee the Mandated Assessment process when students are returning from involuntary hospitalization, medical leave process and/or involuntary withdrawal process.* Oversee the student's re-entry to UCF to ensure appropriate members of the university community are informed (Housing, UCF PD, Psychiatry, CAPS, etc.) and that an appropriate review of each individual student has been conducted before a student's return to campus. Serve on the medical withdrawal committee.* Establish, oversee and maintain streamlined communication and working relationships with community resources (i.e. physicians, therapists, psychiatrists, life coaches, hospitals). Maintain a directory of community resources available to students.* Provides consultation to students and families regarding referral to university and community resources, interpreting University policy and facilitating family support.* Collaborate with on and off campus partners to formulate intervention plans and expedite resolution of problems for student success; facilitate and consult on meetings with students, faculty, staff and family members or guardians on topics including but not limited to concerning behavior, individual student support plans and resources, University/community procedures, processes and follow-up.* Provide wraparound coordinated care for students. Specifically, monitor the progress and performance of students and deploy interventions as appropriate.* Assist students with setting goals, creating customized action plans and provide resources to students on an individual basis to appropriate academic, career, health, social, financial and holistic care resources on campus.* Assist with requesting well-being/wellness checks from UCF PD when needed.* Provide oversight and assist with managing processes related to student death, natural disasters, student displacement, crisis situations, missing students, etc.* Provide leadership and training to the other SSWB teams and the UCF community on student mental health trends and emerging issues.* Remain current on best practices, emerging research and strategies supportive of reducing threat and support to students in crisis or distress.* Undertake special projects as needed or requested by supervisor. Assist with maintenance of student success data including reasons for case load management, student departures, information regarding persistence, leave of absence request and return for students.* Provide training and workshops on supporting student success and students in distress to faculty and staff through informal channels.* Serve on other division and university committees, as needed.* Manage confidential student records according to the University policies, including destruction or archival of closed files.* Comply with all relevant departmental and university policies, as well as state and federal laws including FL-BOG regulations and statutes, Title IX, VAWA, ADA, FERPA, HIPAA, and Title II.* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.**Minimum Qualifications**:Bachelor's and 4+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 2+ years of relevant experience with at least 1+ year(s) of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).**Preferred Qualifications**:* Master’s Degree in Student Personnel, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Educational Administration.* Three or more years of progressively responsible, full-time experience in case management, higher education, student affairs, or counseling. Demonstrated ability to lead in a dynamic community with a large student body.* Working knowledge of current laws and guidance pertaining to FERPA, HIPAA, the Clery Act, Title IX, Campus SaVE Act, and other applicable regulatory provisions.* Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with technology.* Demonstrated ability to build relationships, create strong partnerships with internal and external partners, and solve problems.* Experience with developing and/or implementing training. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in public speaking, outreach and programming are preferred. Experience with databases (Maxient preferred).* Skills relevant to establishing and maintaining successful partnerships with students and student organizations, parents, faculty/staff, administration, members of the community and other stakeholders.* Ability to interpret data, distinguish nuances, and evaluate multiple courses of action. Ability to take initiative, balance multiple projects, set priorities and work autonomously yet also as a member of a team. Ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information.
